Recruitment Campaign at Leeds West Academy

Leeds West Academy is advertising several new roles for the 2023/24 academic year due to the growth of the school.

Demand for places at Leeds West Academy, a large secondary school in the Rodley and Bramley area of the city, has increased dramatically in recent years due to the success of the school in numerous measures. This includes Ofsted inspections where the academy was awarded a ‘good’ judgment in 2019 (link to 2019 report here) and again in September 2022 through a monitoring visit (link to 2022 report). It also includes the performance of  students, which has strengthened from year to year.

Working at Leeds West Academy comes with numerous benefits such as a staff wellbeing, reward and recognition framework which underpins a culture of carefully considered workload requirements.

“Increased the capacity”

There is a plethora of internal and external professional development opportunities, regular staff community activities and opportunities that bring workers together and reward the efforts of all staff. Additionally, the academy offers a large degree of flexibility for each of the roles, including the potential to work part-time with working days to meet the needs of individuals.

Furthermore, for colleagues joining the profession through the Early Career Framework (ECF), there is the possibility for an increased starting salary and an earlier start date once Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) has been awarded.

As well as a commitment to our staff, the academy is also dedicated to providing the best experiences possible for students. Expansion work consisting of a £5m project to increase the size of the canteen and adding numerous new and bespoke classrooms is due for completion soon. This has increased the capacity of the academy to over 1500 student places, making it one of the biggest academies in the area. As a result of the growth, there is the need for several new roles including teachers of numerous subjects, a Data and Exams Manager, Attendance Officers and Student Support Officers. These vacancies will play a key role in the work to achieve a vision of uniting and inspiring the community through the power of education, opportunity, and inspiration to secure successful futures for the children of the west of Leeds.
