Cinematic soundscapes, from Melbourne…

What’s the title of your latest release, and what does it mean to you?
Revelations. A ruthless depiction of self-truth and choice and from that learning the real essence of who you are.

What was the hardest part about putting this release together, and why?
It’s been an emotional journey. It’s like pulling yourself apart from the inside and then displaying all the broken pieces for everyone to see. You’re completely vulnerable. I was also doing this through the pandemic, so it’s been such a jarring process as well. I’m ready to let go of it now.

Who produced the release – what did they bring to it?
The list of producers includes me, Maxim of The Prodigy, Rose Mackenzie Peterson, Chris Garcia and Sakr. Sakr was instrumental with this release. He built the world sonically for Revelations. We have a deep mutual understanding of what we need from one another and it was so relieving to create a space that was honest, emotive and boundless.

What do you want the listener to take away from listening to your music?
I want them to feel understood and empowered.

How does a track normally come together? Can you tell us something about the process?
The title track, ‘Revelations’ started with the title. Sometimes I’ll do that. There’ll be one word that has a space in my heart that I feel the need to explore and expand on. I was sitting in the library with my beautiful friend and stylist Elefterios Romanos, and we were nerding out on all things fashion and music. Amidst our brainstorm the word Revelations felt right.

What band/artists have influenced you the most since you started this project, and why?
I love it when artists build a sonic palette that is just a collision different emotions and sounds. The artists that influenced me most with this release are Yelle, Lana Del Rey, BANKS, Air, Alexandra Savior and Sevdaliza.

What countries would you like to tour? Are there any standout venues you’d like to play in?
I’ve always wanted to play The Forum at home in Melbourne. But since I moved to London, I’d love to play The Roundhouse. Also on my list is Elsewhere in Brooklyn, NY.

If you could pick one track for our readers to listen to in order to get a taste of your music, what would you pick, and why?
The title track, ‘Revelations’. I like to think of my music like going to the cinema. That song is the perfect trailer track to get you to see the film.

What ambitions do you have for your career?
I’d love to write a James Bond song.

Finally, as you leave the stage, what are your parting words?
In the words of my grandmother (as quoted on my album), “Stay true to yourself”.
