Features Most Appreciated by Hotel Guests

Whether it’s for business or pleasure, staying in a hotel is a luxury that many of us enjoy. As a nation, we make a whopping 19.1 million visits overseas each year.

And while it’s no secret that Brits love to stay in hotels, that doesn’t mean you can be complacent if you’re in the hospitality industry.

To help you attract guests and keep them coming back, here are some of the most appreciated hotel features.

1. Working Wi-Fi

One of the most important amenities that every hotel should provide is a strong, reliable internet connection. Now that almost a quarter of us work remotely, there’s a good chance someone visiting your hotel might be on a ‘workcation’!

If you haven’t already, speak with your internet provider to ensure you have full coverage and that your Wi-Fi speed is strong.

2. Workout areas

Keeping fit isn’t just reserved for elite athletes and bodybuilders! Nowadays, most people enjoy exercise in some form. As such, it’s a good idea to dedicate some time to your workout area. By creating a mini gym or space for exercise, you’ll ensure your guests feel calm and know they can still reach their fitness goals while they’re away.

As a general rule, you should look to put the following in your hotel gym:

– Multi-gyms and cables (one of the most versatile pieces of equipment – your guests can get creative with cables)
– Free weights
– Cardio equipment (treadmills, cross trainers and exercise bikes tend to come up trumps!)

However, with exercise areas comes a certain degree of risk, such as accidental equipment damage. As such, you should check your hotel insurance to see if you’ll be covered in the event of an accident.

3. Quality toiletries

One of the most infuriating things for guests is getting to a hotel and realising they’ve forgotten their toiletries. Whether that’s a toothbrush, shower cap or shampoo – sometimes it’s a hassle they just don’t need.

One way to keep guests happy is to have a range of high-quality toiletries for them to use. As a rule of thumb, provide shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste and soap as a bare minimum.
When you’re considering your selection of toiletries, be sure to bear in mind your ethos and how your toiletries align with your brand. For example, if your hotel is proudly eco-friendly, ensure you only stock local toiletries containing natural ingredients, encased in recyclable packaging.

Final thoughts…

If you’re looking to stand out in the hospitality business, it can sometimes be difficult to know where to start. However, if you ensure your Wi-Fi is up to speed and invest in a workout area and luxurious toiletries, you’ll have a better chance of enticing customers back.
