What usually encourages people to take up snowsports is the challenge of learning a new skill, the thrill of conquering challenging terrain and the adrenaline-rush of swooshing down runs while the world whizzes past.

But once you’re a seasoned snow fanatic, socialising after an energetic day on the slopes often becomes just as important as pursuing your passion.

Apres ski enhances snowsports by furnishing them with a fantastic culture all of their own – it’s the ultimate way to unwind while mingling with fellow enthusiasts.

So if satisfying ski evenings are as crucial for you as dynamic days, you’ll love these five French Alps resorts with awesome apres-ski.

1. Les 2 Alpes

When it comes to partying in the French Alps, Les 2 Alpes is arguably the pinnacle.

This resort is favoured by the young, hip crowd and boasts 45 bars and eight nightclubs – so you’ll never be stuck for somewhere to quench your thirst.

It’s hard to pick a favourite from this plethora of alcohol-fuelled funhouses, but kick your evening off by busting some moves to live DJs in the Pano Bar and then see where the evening takes you.

2. Avoriaz

Avoriaz is another great Alps resort where the apres-ski is amazing – the vibe might not be as full-on as Les 2 Alpes, but it’s still brilliantly entertaining.

Head for Le Shooters at happy hour and sample from their extensive menu of shots, then line your stomach with terrific tapas at Jaja Bar and move on to Le Yak to dance the night away to a funky house soundtrack.

3. Val d’Isere

Another Alpine resort which is no shirking violet when it comes to entertainment, Val d’Isere has an eclectic nightlife and an electric atmosphere.

Cocorico is a premium pitstop in the early evening thanks to the cool live band that perform perpetually. but by six o clock the resident DJ will turn things up a notch with table dancing soon ensuing. However, no self-respecting apres advocate would miss out La Folie Douce – the pumping bass and carnival atmosphere make ‘the highest bar in Europe’ a must-see.

4. Tignes

If you like your post-ski partying a little on the kitsch side, you’ll love Grizzly’s Bar at Tignes – this North American-style log cabin looks like an authentic trapper’s hut, but it’s much cosier and even has fire pits to defrost you after a tough day’s snowboarding.

Meanwhile, Loop Bar is nestled at the bottom of the Rosset and Trolles pistes and it’s a great spot to watch the sunset with an ice cold beer or catch up on live TV sports action.

5. Alpe d’Huez

Last but not least, Alpe d’Huez is a favourite for patrons of ski firms like NUCO Travel because it’s cheap, cheerful and fabulous fun.

There are venues aplenty, but for something a little different there’s great craic at O’Sharkey’s Irish Bar and Igloo Bar is the place to be for 24 hour party people.

So now you know how to unwind all the way in these five fantastic French Alps resorts, there’s no time like the present to book your next trip!
