A-Q&A-With-Dirty-Money

Classic rock / protopunk hybrid, from Oxfordshire…

What’s the title of your latest release, and what does it mean to you?
Our latest release is called ‘If’. It’s a tune about wondering what happened to the people you lost over the years. It’s about love, loss and longing.

What was the hardest part about putting this release together, and why?
I think it was the actual recording. Through one thing and another, we were pushed for time. Obviously, you’d want as much time as humanly possible going into the session but we didn’t quite have that luxury.

Who produced the release – what did they bring to it?
We produced it and really we just wanted to capture the essence of us as a band and what we bring live. I think it accomplishes that.

What do you want the listener to take away from listening to your music?
Just enjoyment. There’s no real point to a song existing if you can’t get some sort of connection or enjoyment or escape from it.

How does a track normally come together? Can you tell us something about the process?
We all write together in the rehearsal room but we spend a lot of time when we’re not together coming up with different ideas so there will always be riffs or lyrics floating around someone’s head and then we sit down together and sort of flesh them out.

What band/artists have influenced you the most since you started this project, and why?
Guns N Roses are a common thread between us so we love their stuff but really we just like to be ourselves. You can’t really take too much influence from any one band otherwise you may as well just be a cover band.

A-Q&A-With-Dirty-Money

What countries would you like to tour? Are there any standout venues you’d like to play in?
We’d love to tour Europe and America like most people. We’d especially love to play the Viper Room and also the Whiskey a Go Go in LA.

If you could pick one track for our readers to listen to in order to get a taste of your music, what would you pick, and why?
It would have to be ‘Play 2 Win’ or ‘Ego’ as they’re the most indicative of us as a band BUT you’re going to have to wait until October when we get the EP out. That or, you know, you could stop by a gig.

What ambitions do you have for the band/your career?
TO RULE THE WORLD!!!! If I’m honest, we’re just enjoying the present and taking things a step at a time and loving every second.

Finally, as you leave the stage, what are your parting words?
We’re the greatest band you’ve never heard of…but you will.
