Wedding Countdown Checklist Everything You Need to Do Before the Big Day

Your wedding day is, arguably, the biggest single day of your life. Ideally, you’ll only have to do it once – which makes it especially important that everything goes without a hitch. To give this the best possible chance of happening, you’ll want to come up with a checklist of loose ends to tie up before the big day arrives. Of course, you may be a little more off the wall and need to look for fancy dress outfits, musicians for hire or outrageous table decorations. But it’s often a good idea to give yourself a deadline for each item – as some of them can’t be sorted at the last minute!

So, what might you include on your checklist?

Have Your Final Tasting With the Caterer

Before you approve the food, you should make sure that it meets with your expectations. Choose a caterer with a good track record – as preparing food for scores of people is vastly different from preparing it for just a few.

Hair and Makeup Trial

Similarly, you’ll want to make sure that your hair and makeup looks right before the big day arrives. You don’t want the stress that comes with not knowing how you’ll look.

Send the Wedding Invitations

Wedding invitations should be sent out well ahead of time, so that everyone has a chance to reply. It’s usually a good idea to send out a separate ‘save the date’ card beforehand, to give everyone the best possible chance of keeping your wedding day free.

Don’t forget the Prenup

A prenuptial agreement will help you to protect your assets, inheritance, and trust funds. They’ll ensure that whatever happens with your marriage, your stuff won’t be put at risk. They’re optional, but increasingly popular. To obtain one, you’ll need to get in touch with some competent family law lawyers.

Brainstorm Guest Favours and Gift Bags

Wedding favours are a nice little way to give something back to your guests. You’ll need something that’s going to trigger happy memories a few years down the line, but which isn’t going to cost a fortune when multiplied across your entire guestlist.

Write Your Vows

If you’re a traditionalist, you might want to stick closely to the well-known vows. On the other hand, you might want to put your own personal spin on things. In either case, it’s good to know what you’re going to say ahead of time.

Final Dress Fitting

Getting your dress fitted takes a while – and you might want to come back for adjustments closer to the date. Make sure that it’s taken care of!

Create a Seating Chart

A seating chart will allow you to ensure that there aren’t going to be any mismatches, and that everyone will have the best possible chance of sitting near to someone they know.

Have a Final Venue Walk-Through

Walking through the venue before the day itself will allow you to spot potential problems ahead of time. Make sure that you do it before the day arrives.

Have fun and enjoy!

As we’ve mentioned, a wedding day is a very rare occasion – so make sure that you take a moment to enjoy it when it arrives!
