Upcoming 2025 iGaming and Online Entertainment Trends

The online entertainment and iGaming sectors have been on a steady upward trajectory for the past several years, and 2025 seems poised to elevate this growth to new heights. There are a variety of trends in the industry that drive player growth and improve player engagement that are likely to further expand in the coming months. In this article, we’ll explore developments in the iGaming and online entertainment sectors and what players can expect moving forward.
Social platforms
The growth of social media in iGaming has continued unabated in 2025 and is poised to continue long after it. More and more players are signing into games specifically to play with their friends, or simply to build communities of like-minded people while enjoying their favourite title. From providing real-time feedback to building global communities, social media continues to reshape gaming a bit more every day. From Reddit to Facebook and even Discord and beyond, there are many options for players interested in a little social interaction as they game.
eSports
While some other genres are stagnating, eSports is enjoying nearly unprecedented growth. Part of this explosion is fostered by social media, with platforms such as Twitch and YouTube making it easy for fans to stream eSports events for free. This, in turn, generates organic buzz for the industry, attracting viewers and even helping competitive gaming expand to new audiences.
Even beyond social media, eSports (as well as casino gaming in general) is thriving behind the scenes. Events are typically created by fans for other fans, with people passionate about the sport in question hosting games. It takes quite a bit of work to put teams together, lead those teams to success, organise events, and secure funding. Sometimes the latter takes the form of casino bonuses for existing players, while other times it exists as legacy media ads in both print and video.
We think that eSports will continue to be a driving force in the online entertainment and iGaming sectors in the next few months.
Cross-platform gaming
A few years ago, the idea of playing the same game on mobile, PC and console devices seemed far-fetched at best. iGaming titles were typically designed specifically for one or two platforms, leaving players to unofficially port titles to platforms that were not supported. In recent years, however, more and more studios are creating games that can be enjoyed on nearly any device. From mobile phones and tablets to laptops and even your home TV, it is now possible to enjoy some of your favourite titles wherever you roam.
More specifically, players can play some Steam games on all three of the major platforms: mobile, PC and console. You don’t need to pay extra to do so, either. Players simply log into their Steam account with their gaming computer and authorise their mobile or console device of choice to share games across platforms.
There is no sign of cross-platform gaming simmering down anytime soon, and we expect it to continue well into 2025 and beyond.
Technological advancements
As player demand for immersive experiences grows, so does the use of augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) along with cutting-edge graphics. This is true of mobile games, where AR tends to reign supreme, as well as PC and console gaming, where VR is an increasingly common game feature. Most notably, technological advancements are attracting players and engaging them to play longer. We foresee this trend continuing in 2025.
From the growth of social media as a gaming platform to the integration of advanced technology and even the rise of immersive gaming, the iGaming and online entertainment platforms are exploding in popularity. We think that the next few months in 2025 will be incredibly interesting to watch, especially in terms of new and improved technology and the gameplay experiences it brings to the table.
