A-Q&A-With-The-Loners

Flamboyantly loud alt-rock trio…

What’s the title of your latest release, and what does it mean to you?
‘Rock Star’. This song is basically about trying to be a successful/established rock star within the music industry, while dealing with everything that comes with it. It is essentially about the fun side of playing in a band and playing live!

What was the hardest part about putting this release together, and why?
Fortunately, there hasn’t been anything difficult about releasing this song, however, to be completely honest, we have only JUST recorded it. No release date as yet, but hopefully soon!

Who produced the release – what did they bring to it?
Ewan from Mark Morrow Audio recorded this and both he and Mark will do the mixing and mastering for us. We will release this single on our own. The benefits being, we make all the decisions about how it looks, sounds etc.

What do you want the listener to take away from listening to your music?
As cliché as it sounds, we just want the listeners to enjoy what they hear. If they can relate to the lyrics in some way, then that’s a bonus in itself. If it makes them feel something, then we have accomplished our job!

How does a track normally come together? Can you tell us something about the process?
I (Nath) really like writing about current events but try to find the best in everything. Although I have a few political songs, it is quite difficult to find the best in politics! But I have seen myself just lying in bed about three in the morning, not being able to sleep and writing a full song in about 3 minutes. I then put chords to it, play it to James and Mark and they make it sound amazing! Once we are all happy with it, we can usually record the song, easily within a day.

What band/artists have influenced you the most since you started this project, and why?
There is definitely some The Strokes influence in this new single. I love The Strokes, so it’s a no-brainer that I will try and steal from them. But we are all massive guitar music fans, so all of our songs are influenced from the 60s to present day, guitar music.

A-Q&A-With-The-Loners-1

What countries would you like to tour? Are there any standout venues you’d like to play in?
I would love to go East and travel around Asia. But I would also like to play some European festivals like Benicassim festival, Mad Cool and also Glastonbury.

If you could pick one track for our readers to listen to in order to get a taste of your music, what would you pick, and why?
I think our new song, ‘Rock Star’ will cover all the bases. It has lots of guitar riffs and loud drums. Some synth-sounding keys as well – and shouting! So everything you would expect to hear from a The Loners, song!

What ambitions do you have for the band/your career?
Can I say, “take over the world?” HAHA! No, we would love to tour the world, play live, play at all the festivals and travel.

Finally, as you leave the stage, what are your parting words?
Be good. If you can’t be good, be good at it…
