I spend a lot of time at my desk. Usually, it’s a solid eight hours a day, three days a week. And, over the last few months, I’ve started to really feel it. My old office chair had served me well enough for a while, but it was getting on a bit. It had developed a slightly annoying squeak, the cushioning had seen better days, and on the other two days of the week when I’m WFH – comfort is on a whole other level.
I was finishing the day feeling a bit stiff, and it was clear I needed something that actually cared about my posture.

Putting it together
I’m going to start with the assembly, because this isn’t a five-minute job. The chair arrives with everything you need in one massive box. The instructions are actually very clear and easy to follow, but because everything is built to be so sturdy, the components have some real weight to them.
There are a couple of points – specifically when you’re trying to marry the main backrest to the seat mechanism – where you might find yourself wishing you had a third hand. I’d recommend grabbing someone to give you a bit of help for ten minutes with this, just to hold things in place while you get the bolts and nuts lined and tightened up.
But, once it’s together, it’s solid. There isn’t a wobble or a rattle in sight.
“Strongly supported”
It’s strange isn’t it? The first ‘sit’ on a new chair is like a monumental occasion! Then the rest of them you take for granted. But, in a similar way to you wanting to get home to your own bed after a holiday, you find a special level of comfort in your own chair.
The Contract 24/7 Posture chair isn’t just nice to sit in, its whole movement allows you greater comfort as you move, lean, and do your work. The best way I can describe sitting in it, is that you sort of ‘mould’ into it. You feel strongly supported, and that was obvious from the first time I tried it.
The seat pad has a ‘waterfall’ front, which means it doesn’t dig into the back of your legs, and the mesh back is firm enough to keep you upright without feeling like you’re leaning against a board.
When it comes to adjusting, that’s easy. You’ve got all the usual height and tilt options, but the 4D armrests give you a bit more than you thought you were getting. You can move them up, down, left, right, and even slide them forward. It means you can get them perfectly level with your desk so your shoulders can actually relax. The swivel is as smooth as silk, and the whole chair is solid.

The verdict
All in all, I’m very happy with this chair. It’s one of those office upgrades, where the benefits come straight away. Moving from a dated, squeaky chair to something that actually supports my back has made a massive difference to how I feel at the end of a long working day.
It takes a bit of effort to put together, but the result is a chair that feels like it’ll last for years. It looks good too, which is always a bonus.
