Dreamy alt-rock from a Leeds basement…

YOUR NAMES: Lewis, Lily, Nick, Douglas.
BAND NAME: English Teacher.
WHAT DO YOU DO/PLAY? Psych/post-punk.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN TOGETHER AS A BAND/PLAYING MUSIC? Since June 2018.

GIVE US 3 REASONS WHY WE SHOULD TRACK DOWN, LISTEN AND DISCOVER YOUR MUSIC?
1. We try really hard.
2. Most of the songs we have released are about or influenced by the North of England.
3. If we don’t get one million streams by the end of 2020 we legally have to sacrifice Lewis (guitarist).

WHERE DO YOU SOUND BEST – FESTIVAL, CLUB, BEDROOM – OR SOMEWHERE ELSE?
We sound best through stereo headphones while sitting on a beach in Normandy with a glass of wine in hand and the sound of the French tide moving in and out to the beat of the moon.

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST RECORD?
Lewis’s was Yours Truly from Leeds’ Kaiser Chiefs, Douglas got Guns and Roses’ Greatest Hits, Nick’s was Kasabian’s ‘Club Foot’ and Lily’s was Inside In/Inside Out by The Kooks.

SO, WHEN IT ALL GOES RIGHT AND YOU’VE GOT A MANSION AND A SUPERMODEL GIRL/BOYFRIEND, WHAT WILL BE YOUR BIGGEST MUSICAL INDULGENCE?
We’ll hire out lookalike session musicians who are better than us so we can spend our days sitting on a beach in Normandy with a glass of wine in hand and the sound of the French tide moving in and out to the beat of the moon.

SO, WHEN IT ALL GOES WRONG AND YOU’VE ACRIMONIOUSLY BROKEN UP CITING HUGE MUSICAL DIFFERENCES, WHAT DO YOU FALL BACK ON?
Lewis would become a carpenter, Nicholas a chef, Douglas a Sommelier and Lily would become an alcoholic.

CITE SOME INTER-BAND MUSICAL DIFFERENCES…
Lewis took a whole week off school to go and see The Script.

WHO ARE YORKSHIRE’S FINEST IN CULTURE, SPORT AND MUSIC?
David Hockney, Simon Armitage, Anne Lister, The Chuckle Brothers, The Orielles, Drahla, Treeboy and Arc, Arctic Monkeys.
