A Q&A with Fiaa Hamilton
Melodies from the soul…
What’s the title of your latest release, and what does it mean to you?
It’s called ‘Love War’ and it means the world to me. I’ve waited far too long for this moment, I held myself back for a while and I really am ready to show the world my art.
What was the hardest part about putting this release together, and why?
Honestly, nothing felt hard, I’ve learnt to really live in the moment and be blessed for whatever comes to me, if I didn’t think like that then I’d list a million things because being an independent music artist takes hard work! But I’m prepared to do whatever I need and be graceful with it.
Who produced the release – what did they bring to it?
Gio Malone and Jordan Cosmo, they are so, so talented, Jordan is super pop and Gio is rocky! I love what they can create together, I was also a part of the whole process, it was a magical time and were all best friends so it’s amazing!
What do you want the listener to take away from listening to your music?
I want them to heal, I have lots more songs coming, I’m taking the listener on a journey, toxic times, free times, the lot! Writing all of these songs helped me heal and I’m going to be very raw and honest in them so they can help others.
How does a track normally come together? Can you tell us something about the process?
I always start with knowing what I want to write about, then the melody comes, then the lyrics. I find it a very natural process and totally go by feelings.
What band/artists have influenced you the most since you started this project, and why?
This project Lana Del Rey. I love how she mixes genres and I love how she tells a story. Her lyrics and flow is genius and her visuals are outrageously nostalgic.
What countries would you like to tour? Are there any standout venues you’d like to play in?
UK and USA 100% and it’s something I’m aiming for in the near future.
If you could pick one track for our readers to listen to in order to get a taste of your music, what would you pick, and why?
I would compare ‘Love War’ to ‘Heartbreak Anthem’ by Little Mix, but my next tracks are very different!
What ambitions do you have for the band/your career?
I just want to keep growing as an independent music artist this summer. I’m happy with the place I’m in. It’s where I’m meant to be, and I’d just like to achieve something different each release and grow my world overall for all of my amazing supporters.
Finally, as you leave the stage, what are your parting words?
I have a headline show on 24th May 2024 at Notting Hill Arts Club and I’d love to meet anyone taking their time to read this interview! There’s a few tickets left in my bio on socials, all of my socials are @fiaahamilton
