Vonhaus Spot Cleaner

If you’ve ever shared your home with a dog – especially one that seems to think a muddy puddle is the best thing in the world – you’ll know the feeling of pure dread when they charge back into the living room. In our house, we’ve got a young, overly energetic, and bonkers Springer-Ponter cross who doesn’t just walk into the lounge; he launches himself onto the sofa and carpets like he’s trying to save his own life.

The result? A living room that was starting to look more like a mud track in the woods than a place to relax.

We tried the usual damp cloth and elbow grease routine, but it isn’t perfect. But I found something that could actually pull the muck out of the fibres before the stains became housemates. Meet the VonHaus 3-in-1 Spot Cleaner…

“Ready for the rescue”

Straight out of the box, it’s a smart-looking bit of kit. It’s compact, which is a massive plus because we can’t handle yet another massive appliance taking up cupboard space. First impressions were good. It’s sturdy but light enough to carry around with one hand.

It’s neat and tidy as well. The hose wraps nicely around the base and there’s a hook for the brush, so it doesn’t feel like you’re wrestling with an octopus when you move it from room to room.

Getting it ready for action was a doddle too. It’s a kind of clunk and click thing to put the unit together for the first time, and that’s about it. You just fill the clean water tank with warm water, choose the attachment you want to use, click the hose into place, and you’re basically good to go.

Easy. As easy as searching for a cloth, detergent, racing to the stain, finding something to mop it up with…you get my drift.

“Lifting the grime”

So. Time to get this place clean..! Starting with the sofa. It’s the prime victim of the dog’s ‘zoomies’, and seeing the 3-in-1 action is pretty satisfying to watch. With the hose, you spray the water at the stain, plus a bit of spot cleaner solution (if you wish), and give it a little scrub with the brush head.

Once you’ve done that, you pull the brush head backwards over the wet patch and let the suction do its thing.

Because it’s got 600W of power behind it, the suction is actually quite impressive. I was watching this dirty water getting pulled up through the clear nozzle, which is both gross and strangely addictive at the same time! It didn’t leave the upholstery soaking wet either. Just slightly damp, drying out completely in no time at all.

I then moved onto the paw-prints and the mystery marks on the carpet – bits and pieces that have been there for months – and with a bit of extra scrubbing this time using the pet-specific brush, they actually vanished. It’s a proper result when you realise you don’t actually need to replace the carpet just yet. Really pleasing results, and better than I could have imagined.

Car interior valet

Since I was on a roll, I took it out to the car. I’d vacuumed the car at the weekend, but decided that I’d try to give the seats, floor and boot a clean. You don’t actually realise just how dirty the car gets, when everything is black. But, using the smaller brush, I managed to get into the creases and corners and without using any spot solution, the seats have come up lovely.

They look like I’ve paid for a professional valet, but for a fraction of the cost and about twenty minutes of my time. I do think I’ll use the solution next time though – give it that fresh smell!

What VonHaus says

“The Vonhaus 3-in-1 Spot Cleaner is a compact carpet and upholstery cleaning machine that sprays, scrubs and vacuums in one go – ideal for tackling spilled drinks, muddy paw prints, wine stains and everyday messes without elbow grease. A dual tank design and self-cleaning function make maintenance straightforward: just flush the system with water after use rather than rinsing every part by hand.”

The Verdict

I’m genuinely chuffed with this. And so is my wife. The VonHaus 3-in-1 Spot Cleaner earned its keep in the first weekend alone. It’s simple to use, powerful enough to tackle the stubborn stuff, and easy to tuck away.

What I will say is vacuum the carpet often, in case you get a spill or a mucky stain you need to sort out. It just lessens the soggy-fluff-factor, and seems to help you with a nicer clean.

The standout feature for me – aside from the cleaning power – is a self-cleaning function. You just pop the special nozzle on, let it flush through, and it cleans the hose for you. It saves that grim job of trying to rinse out dirty tubes in the sink.

If you’ve got kids, pets, or just a habit of dropping things, this is a must-have. It’s a cracking little machine that’s definitely going to be a regular fixture in our cleaning routine.

The VonHaus 3-in-1 Spot Cleaner is available from vonhaus.com. RRP: £69.99
