First Impressions:
The design of the Soundcore Boom 2 is clean and modern, albeit a bit square in shape. It’s lightweight and easy to carry around, making it ideal for travel without being cumbersome. The promise of a customisable Light Show feature sounded fun, and I was eager to see it in action.
Setting up the Soundcore Boom 2 was straightforward. After a couple of hours of initial charging via USB, I found it was ready to pair with my Android phone almost instantly. The Bluetooth connection was seamless, allowing me to control music playback, adjust volume, and skip tracks with ease right from the start. The user-friendly interface made navigating its functions a breeze.
Sound Quality and special features:
So, when I whacked on a bit of Manic Street Preachers, how did they sound? Well, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the Soundcore Boom 2. Despite its lightweight build, it delivered rich, pretty powerful sound with notable bass performance. The BassUp feature give the speaker that little bit extra, and it’s pretty good. I noticed it does drain the battery slightly faster though – but, for me, it’s worth the compromise.
The Light Show feature offers seven dynamic settings: Energy, Fireworks, Flame, Flash, Lightning, Rainbow, and Wave. Each setting syncs with the audio, giving a bit of a visual experience during music playback. While I might not personally be drawn by this feature often, my initial thoughts were that it’s a very fun feature – and adds a fun element that younger users or party-goers will appreciate. The ability to customise colours and brightness via the Soundcore app adds flexibility to suit different moods and settings.
While I haven’t tested its waterproof feature yet, knowing that the Soundcore Boom 2 is rated as waterproof adds peace of mind. It’s reassuring to know it can withstand splashes or unexpected rain during beach trips or camping adventures.
The verdict:
In outdoor settings like the garden or garage, the Soundcore Boom 2 performs admirably. It provides ample sound for casual gatherings or solo listening sessions. However, indoors, it doesn’t match the audio performance of higher-end speakers we have at home. Nonetheless, its portability and durability make it a practical choice for outdoor use.
Overall, it’s a solid portable speaker that delivers excellent value for its price. It’s well-suited for outdoor activities and travel, where its lightweight design and impressive battery life (up to 24 hours) come in handy. While it may not replace higher-end home speakers, its robust bass, easy usability, and fun Light Show feature make it a decent choice for anyone looking for a versatile Bluetooth speaker. I like the Soundcore Boom 2, a good piece of kit that promises to enhance your audio experience wherever you go.
