A Q&A With Lu.Ci

Alt-pop from London…
What’s the title of your latest release, and what does it mean to you?
‘Jealousy’. It’s a message to envious eyes that I will continue with my destiny.
What was the hardest part about putting this release together, and why?
The release itself was actually quite smooth however the music video was a bit difficult due to being independent and unsigned, budgets are small limiting creativity.
Who produced the release – what did they bring to it?
I’m very involved in the production of my art and work together closely with producers. Dan Clarke is very talented and an absolute diamond to work with. He sees my vision and we work on the same page. He helps me transpose me feelings into sound matching my emotions perfectly.
What do you want the listener to take away from listening to your music?
I want my music to empower the listeners, give them a release and allow them to find their inner fight.
How does a track normally come together? Can you tell us something about the process?
I usually create the demo at home in my home studio. I start on my keys and build from there. Sometimes I find the chords and build melody around them or I can start with lyrics then home the chords around them instead.I then take my demo to JBJ Studios and build the sound with the help of Dan Clarke.
What band/artists have influenced you the most since you started this project, and why?
Alanis Morissette has been a huge influence to me, such a powerful songwriter. Also George Michael, another legend. They both used the right instruments in the right way to portray emotions through their art.
What countries would you like to tour? Are there any standout venues you’d like to play in?
I would love to tour all around the world and would love to perform on a Glastonbury stage and Caesars Palace.
If you could pick one track for our readers to listen to in order to get a taste of your music, what would you pick, and why?
‘Freedom’. This track has been the biggest success of my career so far at 24 in the official singles chart.
What ambitions do you have for the band/your career?
I would like to be signed to a major label and perform sell-out gigs.
Finally, as you leave the stage, what are your parting words?
Celebrate being yourself everyday, allow yourself to be happy and never apologise for being your authentic self.
