VonHaus 43L Beverage Fridge – Review

By Steve Crabtree, May 2026
What’s that yellow thing in the sky? Has summer arrived? Well – let’s make the most of this sunshine – let’s wash the car, let’s get the garden straight, and let’s get that much-needed warmth and Vitamin D into our bones!
But, if there’s one thing that I don’t like about the summer and the heat, it’s the state of our main kitchen fridge. We start planning the BBQs, thinking about those summer evenings in the garden, and suddenly the milk and the veg are fighting for space with cans of beer and bottles of white wine. It’s a battle no one ever wins, and you usually end up with a squashed tomato or two, and a couple of lukewarm cans.
So, this year I decided that won’t happen anymore. I wanted to reclaim the family fridge for, well, actual food, and give the beverages their own dedicated home. That’s how the VonHaus 43L Beverage Fridge found its way into our house, just in time for the sunshine.
What’s in the box
- 43L drinks fridge unit
- Two removable chrome wire shelves
- One sculpted wine rack
- Two security keys
- Instruction manual
“Properly chilled”
I’m going to be cheesy here, and call the VonHaus 43L a tardis. Don’t get me wrong, this is a sizeable unit and you need space for it in the house – but open the door and you’ve got room for quite a bit of stuff in there.
It looks smart too. It isn’t just a plain black box; that glass door makes it feel like a proper bit of kit you’d find in a bar. It’s substantial, and not just a temporary summer fix.
Setting it up was a total breeze. It was a simple case of sliding the shelves into the slots that worked for me, plugging it in, and letting it settle. I was particularly impressed with the LED control panel inside the unit. No fiddling with clunky dials – just tap the display to set your temperature. I set ours to a crisp 4°C, and it reached that temp much faster than I expected.
“Room for everyone”
Now, I was a bit sceptical about how much a “mini” fridge could actually handle, but I’ve been pleasantly surprised.
We’re talking about more than a crate of standard cans and four full-sized bottles of wine on the bottom rack. But because we’ve got kids and non-drinkers to think about too, I played around with the layout. I managed to squeeze in plenty of fruit shoots and sparkling waters alongside my Vocation craft ales (delicious – try them). It means when people come over, nobody is digging around the back of the salad drawer for a cold one – everything is right there, visible through the glass, and as expected, ice cold.
“Smooth and silent”
One worry I always have with smaller fridges is the noise. If it’s going to live in a living space, you don’t want it humming away like a lawnmower while you’re trying to watch a film. Thankfully, this one is surprisingly quiet. At 39dB, it’s just a gentle, low-level whirr that you forget is even there after five minutes.
The internal light is a nice touch too. It’s not one of those blindingly bright ones; it just gives a nice glow to your drinks when you open the door. Plus, having the lock and keys is a bit of a masterstroke if you’ve got teenagers in the house who might be eyeing up your premium craft ales!
For those of you with a garden room, or a garden bar – this is the piece of kit you need. It’s perfect. Sadly, we don’t have that sort of luxury in our garden (yet…wife, are you reading..?!) – but if I did I’d be seeking out one or two more Vonhaus 43L drinks fridges to complete the look and feel of a bar at home.
What VonHaus says
“The Vonhaus 43L Drinks Fridge is a compact beverage cooler designed to keep your favourite drinks perfectly chilled and on display. With a 43-litre capacity, it fits up to 27 standard 330 ml cans and four 750 ml wine bottles, making it ideal for kitchens, home bars, offices or snug spaces. It features an adjustable temperature range from 0°C to 20°C that you control via a clear LED panel, so you can tailor the cooling for beer, wine, soft drinks or juices.”
The verdict
I’m genuinely impressed with how much this little unit has changed the ‘fridge dynamic’ in our house. It’s got a permanent home in our kitchen and houses everything from the weekend prosecco to the Tuesday diet soft drinks. Because the shelves are removable, you can faff around with the height if you’ve got taller bottles or odd-shaped mixers.
The best part? Our main fridge is now back to being a milk and food-only zone, and I know that whenever I fancy a drink, it’s going to be exactly the right temperature. It feels well-built, it looks the part, and it’s solved my summer storage headache before it even started.
Oh – and whilst we’re talking about keeping things cool in the summer, check out VonHaus’ Air Circulator pedestal fan. Another brilliant product from this lot, and works like a dream.
Now – let’s grab a tin and get back in that sunshine…
