Heavenly Desserts, Castleford – Restaurant Review

By Kirsty Reid, November 2025
Those who believe life is too short to skip dessert will have most likely heard of Heavenly Desserts.
Founded in 2008, the international restaurant franchise promises the finest in artisan and decadent treats.
Having visited the York branch several times, I can confirm the vast menu will leave you spoilt for choice. But what I didn’t know until recently was that Heavenly Desserts also serves brunch.
Keen to see if their savoury offerings are just as, well, heavenly, Dad and I headed to the Castleford restaurant to find out.
“Airy and stylish”
Located just off junction 32 of the M62, getting there is easy, and parking is ample. Situated within Xscape – a large leisure complex – you’re only a stone’s throw from a snow slope, bowling, a cinema and shops.
Having arrived just after opening, we are among the first to dine and our friendly server offers us our choice of seating. We make a beeline for a cosy booth in the middle of the restaurant.
The interior is stunning. Light, airy and stylish, featuring herringbone flooring, green and blue velvet upholstery, and tasteful gold accents throughout.
I order an English Breakfast Tea (£3.50), while Dad opts for a creamy Latte (£4.25), before we turn our attention to the food options.
“No rush”
The brunch menu is packed with sweet and savoury choices – from the Full English and eggs on toast to pancakes and croffles (croissants baked in a waffle iron). And that’s before you even see the dessert options.
Having looked at the menu before our visit, I’m set on the Brunch Power Bowl (£10.95), while Dad orders Poached Eggs on Sourdough (£7.25).
Our server advises there’s a 20-minute wait for food, but we were in no rush and use the time to have a much-needed catch-up.
My Brunch Power Bowl (£10.95) looks as good as it tastes. Vibrant and nourishing, the creamy smashed avocado compliments the lightly spiced beans nicely. It comes with a poached egg, roasted tomatoes on the vine and fresh rocket. Topped with crumbled feta and served with a slice of toasted sourdough. It’s the sort of thing you’d expect from a spa or yoga retreat – packed with protein, fibre and one of your five a day. I’m off to a good start.
“Spoilt for choice”
Dad tells me his Poached Eggs on Sourdough (£7.25) is delicious. I’ve not quite mastered the art of poaching eggs, so always think it’s a good choice to order when out brunching.
His Hash Brown Bites (£4.50) are a good side order, too – beautifully crispy on the outside with a soft, fluffy potato centre. I can’t resist nabbing a few and dipping in the accompanying sriracha mayo for a bit of heat.
A few more diners arrive as we order more drinks – Orange Juice for me (£3.50) and another Latte for Dad (£4.25).
We then take a look at the dessert menu – I mean, it’d be rude not to. We are spoilt for choice, cakes, brownies, crepes, profiteroles, cookie dough… the list goes on.
“Chocolate shot”
Dad opts for the Lotus Biscoff and White Chocolate Cheesecake (£8.95), and it’s a spectacular choice.
The dish is beautifully presented with a scoop of white chocolate gelato perched on top of scattered Biscoff crumbs. It’s sweet, light and, dare I say, heavenly. It’s served with a Biscoff and white chocolate shot for drizzling over the cheesecake – divine!
While the brunch was lovely, it’s the sweet dishes that Heavenly Desserts does best. And with such a vast menu, more than one visit is recommended!
