Creams, Doncaster – Restaurant Review

By Kirsty Masterman, December 2025
December may have only just hit, but it seems like the festive season has been upon us for a while now.
One of the things I daresay most of us like about this time of year, is that diets go out of the window and it seems acceptable, if not a requirement, to indulge on inhumane amounts of sweet treats.
Introducing Creams, one of the UKs leading dessert chains.
Founded in 2008 by Adam Mani and Balal Aqil, Creams has become a trailblazer in dessert dining, pioneering a market that combines the fun of an ice-cream parlour with the theatrical flair of an all-day dessert restaurant.
One of the foundations of Creams’ appeal is its signature gelato, but, as tempting as this is, it’s not the gelato I’m here for today, it’s the new festive menu that I’m interested in.
“Sugar-dusted dreams”
Dessert cafes seem to be growing in popularity, and while they seem to have been around for a while now, this is my first foray into such a place, so I’m excited to see what all the fuss is about.
Accompanied by two excitable 11-year-olds, fresh from a visit to the cinema, we head into our local branch.
As we step inside the unassuming building in the parking lot of a Doncaster retail outlet, I’m instantly hit with a sugar rush – sugar-dusted dreams permeating the air.
Neon signage and graffiti-style artwork adorns the walls, invoking a sense of nostalgia and youth with a hint of recklessness.
With a menu as spectacular to boot, we are spoilt for options as we turn the pages. Waffles piled high with delicious toppings, crepes slick with sauces and towering sundaes spill out of the kitchen as we struggle to make our choice.
“Cosy indulgence”
Christmas menus have been touted for months, and Creams is no exception, ramping up the Christmas spirit with its seasonal, limited edition, menu.
Having perused the menu beforehand, I already know what I want. Although, it has to be said, it was a difficult choice, and even now, as I wait to order, I’m tempted to change my mind.
Cream’s festive offerings are centred around three showpiece offerings – Sticky Toffee Pudding Hot Pocket; Rudy the Reindeer Sundae and the Gingerbread Hot Chocolate, and as this menu is limited to the festive season, it seems a shame not to sample them. It just means I will need a return visit to try out the ‘regular’ menu.
The Sticky Toffee Pudding Hot Pocket is a no brainer for our party – a firm favourite dessert in our family, and on a particularly cold wintry afternoon, it promises a cosy indulgence. So, when a crisp crêpe parcel hiding caramel custard, sticky toffee pudding crumbs topped with dark chocolate shavings, mini marshmallows and a swirl of toffee sauce with a dusting of cinnamon and a scoop of vanilla gelato to boot, lands at our table, it not only feels seriously indulgent, it feels like a warm hug.
“Perfectly tuned”
For something more festive in appearance, the youngsters in our party opt for the Rudy the Reindeer sundae – or as they aptly named it, Christmas in a glass. A chocolate chip gelato shaped as a reindeer face adorned with candy eyes and a bright red smarties nose and pretzel antlers, it is not only creative, but visually appealing – and almost too cute to eat – almost! Resting on a base of white chocolate ‘snow’ and Oreo-crumbs – it is almost as much fun to look at as it is to eat.
Drinks wise, we are big hot chocolate fans, and today is no different. The only difference being, we have chosen to share one. I think one each at this stage in proceedings is too much to ask, even of us! A mug of steaming hot cocoa, with a Creams’ twist, continues the indulgence. This certainly isn’t the place for you if you’re counting the calories! Flavoured with a touch of gingerbread syrup and topped with whipped cream, a milk-chocolate drizzle and a crumbly Biscoff finish – it is perfectly tuned to the festive beat.
Sitting here, with all these delicious goodies waiting to be consumed, it’s safe to say, a trip to Creams is definitely more of an experience than just a quick stop off for something sweet.
With over 100 stores to its name up and down the country, it is easy to see why it has become the UK’s biggest dessert-only chain. It isn’t just a place to go for a celebration, it’s a place to make any moment feel that little bit more joyful, and who doesn’t want that, particularly at this time of year.
