Edit Suits Co, Leeds – Review

By Richard Jones, June 2025
A well-fitted suit speaks volumes about your confidence and style.
Not only does it make a positive first impression, boost confidence and elevate your look, a versatile piece can be suitable for all manner of business and social settings and occasions.
While buying off-the-rack is quick, convenient and cheap, it often means compromising on fit. That means spending extra on alterations, if you can be bothered.
At the other end of the scale, bespoke suits are custom-designed and constructed from scratch, with tailors often drawing a unique paper pattern by hand. These luxurious garments also come with a hefty price tag.
Sitting somewhere in between those two options are made-to-measure suits which are designed to fit an individual’s body shape and proportions using existing patterns and designs.
As well as being much cheaper and less time-consuming than bespoke varieties, made-to-measure also offers flexibility in styling so clients can choose various design elements such as lapels, pockets, buttons, vents and cuffs.
With advancements in technology, made-to-measure suits are more precise these days, and tailors are able to combine innovative tools with traditional tailoring techniques to capture accurate measurements and create precise patterns.
The Company
London-based Edit Suits Co are a premium, made-to-measure menswear brand who are “shaking up the tailoring space with a modern, data-driven approach”.
Their mission is to bring the quality and experience of Savile Row tailoring to a broader audience – without the eye-watering expense or months-long wait time.
Edit Suits Co have five showrooms around the UK (London Bond Street, London City, Leeds, Birmingham and Manchester).
“Committed to craftsmanship, style, and service”, they have become increasingly popular with men looking for sharp business suits, tailored shirts, bespoke chinos, wedding suits and overcoats.
The Experience
With a family wedding in Spain on the horizon, I headed to Edit Suits Co’s Leeds showroom on York Place.
The West Yorkshire branch moved from its existing shop in the Victoria Quarter in 2022 to help the company provide an increased personal service.
Now based in the middle of the city’s office district, it is the ideal spot for businessmen and lawyers who are seeking made-to-measure suits.
With a soundtrack of cool background music, the showroom is adorned with images of models in designer suits and various suit garments on hangers and rails which showroom manager Wayne Colbourne would later use to demonstrate certain looks.
Friendly and professional, Wayne is a perfect ambassador for a modern company like Edit Suits Co.
Having followed in the footsteps his Jamaican grandfather and worked in tailoring for 30 years, he knows all there is to know about the business.
He kept things as simple as he could during my initial consultation, explaining the company’s ethos and how the fitting and ordering process would work.
Wayne then wanted to find out a bit more about my lifestyle and what I personally wanted from a suit.
I explained that I was looking for an outfit to wear at a wedding and outlined some the past issues I’ve had in getting the right suit.
I also planned to wear the individual garments on other occasions, splitting the jacket, trousers and shirt up and wearing each in different combinations.
Choosing The Suit
When we eventually got down to selecting the suit, the first choice I faced was regarding the colour, pattern and texture of the material that would create the jacket and trousers.
Wayne presented me with one of their booklets containing all manner of cloth types.
As he did during the entire process, he had plenty of recommendations, but also made it clear that it was ultimately my choice.
In the end, I went for a navy blue plain fabric, which would be used to make up my half-canvas jacket and trousers, from the elite wool book.
Then, once we had decided on the material, Wayne talked me through some of the other options on the iPad, such as the lining – I went for a pale blue colour – and whether I wanted the jacket to be single or double breasted, with one or two buttons.
We then worked our way through the menu on the iPad, deciding on the small customisation features, including lapel styles, stitching, buttons, shoulder style, jacket bottom shapes, pockets, vents and monogram options.
We did the same with the trousers, choosing waistband and belt loop styles, pleats, side and back pockets and buttons.
The shirt I opted for was a simple white Oxford shirt with a pointed collar, but even that had plenty of other style options, and Wayne made sure the collar stays, sleeves, cuffs, placket, buttons and monogram were just as I desired.
I had no idea choosing a suit and shirt came with so many choices, but with his help, I felt like I got precisely what I wanted.
Fitting
After measuring me up and trying on similar-sized mock-up garments from the back, Wayne then set up my body profile on the iPad.
He then adjusted each of the measurements slightly by half an inch or so, depending on my posture and build, but more importantly the way the suit and shirt looked and if they were comfortable.
Ordering
Following the process, the suit was ordered, and after being created, I was informed that it would be available to collect in four to six weeks, with regular updates delivered to my inbox.
I left the showroom feeling fulfilled and excited and couldn’t wait to get my hands on the finished article, knowing with confidence it would be the right suit for me.
Collection
A few weeks after the initial consultation appointment, I received a notification that the suit was ready and headed back to Leeds to pick up the suit.
I was once again greeted by Wayne, and after a quick catch up about what we’d both been up to, he got me to try on the suit.
Unsurprisingly, I was over the moon with the finished article. Perhaps more importantly, was that the suit got Wayne’s seal of approval – he is the expert after all.
He explained that if I wasn’t completely satisfied, I could let him know and he would arrange to make any slight adjustments over the course of a couple of days using the local tailors.
We also discussed the care instructions for the garments and Wayne explained that now my measurements and preferences are saved on the Edit Suits Co system, they can be used to purchase any more items and continuously updated if need be.
I left the showroom a very happy man, carrying the suit bag with pride through the middle of Leeds City Centre, knowing I had something special inside.
Verdict
Combining luxury fabrics, with tech-enabled efficiency and a highly personal service, Edit Suits Co say they are redefining what it means to “get the perfect fit”. And it’s hard to disagree with their bold claim.
Following a visit to their Leeds showroom, I not only have a new favourite suit, but three pieces of clothing that fit like a glove and that I will be able to wear on various occasions, including weddings, for years to come.
As for the experience, Wayne helped turn what could easily be a daunting process into an enjoyable tailoring journey, and I doubt I will ever consider purchasing an off-the-peg suit again.
