Fast-rising grunge-influenced Hull quartet…

YOUR NAMES:
Tom Hockney
George Garnett
Casey Stead

BAND NAME:
Bedsit.

WHAT DO YOU DO / PLAY?
Tom: Vocals / Guitar
George: Drums
Casey: Guitar

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN TOGETHER AS A BAND / PLAYING MUSIC?
Tom: We’ve been together for just over two years but, between the four of us, we have about forty years’ experience being in bands.

GIVE US 3 REASONS WHY WE SHOULD TRACK DOWN, LISTEN AND DISCOVER YOUR MUSIC?
Tom: We’ve got a plethora of influences, so none of our songs sound the same, and we’re trying to do something new while sticking to 90s grunge roots.

WHERE DO YOU SOUND BEST – FESTIVAL, CLUB, BEDROOM – OR SOMEWHERE ELSE?
Tom: Hot, sweaty venues with low ceilings and no windows.

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST…
RECORD?
George: Iron Maiden – Powerslave
Casey: Franz Ferdinand – ‘Do You Want To?’

CD?
Tom: RHCP – Blood Sugar Sex Magic
George: +44 – When Your Heart Stops Beating

DOWNLOAD?
Tom: Nirvana’s Unplugged and Green Day’s live album.
George: Municipal Waste – The Art Of Partying

SO, WHEN IT ALL GOES RIGHT AND YOU’VE GOT A HUGE QUEUE OF HANGERS-ON AND A RIDICULOUS MANSION, WHAT WILL BE YOUR BIGGEST INDULGENCE, MUSICAL OR OTHERWISE?
Tom: I’d like to start a family. I’m currently far too self-centred and obsessed with making ‘it’ as a musician that I can’t commit to relationships, let alone kids. Sorry, too real?
Casey: The opposite of that. I’d indulge in having the ability to just disappear and be completely alone, with no responsibility to anyone but myself. If it freed up some time for soul-searching, I couldn’t bring myself to do anything else.

SO, WHEN IT ALL GOES WRONG AND YOU’VE ACRIMONIOUSLY BROKEN UP CITING HUGE MUSICAL DIFFERENCES, WHAT DO YOU FALL BACK ON?
Tom: Same thing – start a family – except I’d resent them for all my failures and blame them for my lack of success. Any takers?
Casey: I’d just have one more reason to disappear. Go live in a commune or something.

CITE SOME INTER-BAND MUSICAL DIFFERENCES…
Tom: Casey (guitar) thinks that Hum are just a poor man’s Smashing Pumpkins. I think he’s just trying to hurt my feelings because how could anyone actually think that …
George: I’m not a fan of acoustic music. Especially folk-punk or anti-folk, it all sounds the same to me. Tom and Casey are fans, recently on the way to a gig I was tortured with a Stoj Snak record.
Casey: As much as I love listening to rock music, I’m equally likely to play some sort of new-age meditation album, or something by Lemon Jelly. I don’t think I can say the same for the other guys, can I?

WHO ARE YORKSHIRE’S FINEST IN CULTURE, SPORT AND MUSIC?
Tom: In terms of sport, big up Mad Volume climbing gym – best bouldering in Yorkshire! As for culture and music, Hull is really kicking off at the moment. There’s loads of new bands all picking each other up, all very different sounding. You should check out Ket Kow, Candid Faces, All Demons Have Disciples, Zero Cost, Salvador, just to name a few.
Casey: We all love Pleasure Centre, from Scarborough.

NAME YOUR SUPERGROUP – WHO’S PLAYING WHAT, WHO’S ON VOCALS AND WHO’S YOUR BEZ?
Tom: My super group will become a reality in the near future, when Amazon and Disney team up to create an AI computer resurrection of Kurt Cobain, completing the transformation of a man’s soul into franchise incarnate. They’ll then churn out edgy grunge songs under Warner Brothers, adding other intellectual properties into the mix like AI-Slash on guitar and AI-Jonny Cash on drums, or whatever other crap they can think of. Mark my words THE DEATH OF ART IS NIGH

LONDON, LA OR LEEDS:
Tom: Leeds! Where my promoters at?
George: I’ve always wanted to go to LA. I’ve been to London and Leeds.
Casey: I love Camden, but if we’re going solely on music … I’d have to say LA, since I haven’t experienced that yet. Unless … are we comparing? Because Leeds has a vibrant scene.

AND FINALLY… AS YOU LEAVE THE STAGE, WHAT ARE YOUR PARTING WORDS?
Tom: Go home, you’re drunk.
George: Someone get me a beer.
Casey: I’m usually just smiling.
