Music of the Spheres World Tour: Coldplay’s 8Th Tour Timeline
Who would’ve thought that a British band made up of some college kids would grow to take over the world and change pop music as the world knew it, into something amazing and magical? Coldplay has shown the world through their numerous albums that there’s more to pop music and though they are considered old-timers in the current Gen-Z world, they are the ones to take the world into the new genre of pop.
The “Music of the Spheres World Tour” has been nothing short of amazing. We’ve had the privilege of experiencing a mix of beautiful fashion, quality sounds and mesmerizing music with time-travelling lyrics. What’s great is the fact that the band has been consistent with every show they’ve hosted in the past couple of years.
And now we have the “Moon Music” which is a few months from rocking our radios. Is there an end to what Coldplay has up their sleeves? We don’t think so. Even though the band promised to stop recording in 2025, we’re still in the 3rd quarter of 2024, and with the speed at which they are going, there’s this gut feeling we get that they might still take us through one more album before they quit recording and focus on touring the world.
But hell, why go faster than our shadows when we can just relax in the present and enjoy every bit of the “Music of the Spheres World Tour?” After all, we still have until November to enjoy one of Coldplay’s finest-headlined tours. Coldplay has not only won our hearts through the music they make but also by their benevolence, which is one characteristic the world seems to be losing value for.
You’re a Coldplayer and are curious about how far Coldplay have come with the “Music of the Spheres World Tour?” Here’s a brief timeline of some of the major achievements that the British band has had amidst the tour. You can also get Coldplay tickets through an alternative ticket marketplace, should in case you need one.
A Brief Walk Through Coldplay’s “Music Of The Spheres World Tour”
Coldplay started the “Music of the Spheres World Tour” in 2022, and has since gone beyond everyone’s expectations. From when they emerged in the music industry, they’ve maintained an aura which separates them from other bands. Whenever they perform, they give the impression that they’ve got more to offer and that they’re yet to give their best.
As a fan, watching them rock the stage and knowing that they’ll do better when you come next time creates a certain kind of feeling that words can’t express. This partially explains why they’ve had the privilege of performing in sold-out venues in the “Music of the Spheres World Tour,” more than they did in their previous tours.
Here’s how Coldplay started the Music of the Spheres World Tour in 2022.
“Music of the Spheres World Tour” – 2022
We wish there was a time-travelling machine that could take us back to Estadio Nacional de Costa Rica, on the 18th of March, 2022 where Coldplay began the “Music of the Spheres World Tour.” Sadly, there isn’t. All we can rely on at the moment, to have a feel of what it felt like on that day, are memories shared by attendees on YouTube, and other platforms.
More than 85k people made it to the show that night, and the excitement was felt all over Costa Rica. H.E.R. alongside MishCatt were there to partake in the iconic opening of Coldplay’s 8th career tour, and it all was a wonderful night to be alive.
It eventually appeared to be that the night of the 18th March was only the beginning of an even greater tour as we all see now and thanks to Coldplay, we get to have this memory in our lives to reflect on and be merry. 2022 marked the beginning of Coldplay’s sold-out shows, breaking attendance records, and revenue amidst the “Music of the Spheres World Tour.”
By the end of 2022, the band had incurred over $342.1 million from 3.8 million tickets sold, and the demand for tickets only kept increasing as the shows decreased. Ticket demands grew because a lot of people who had experienced Coldplay magic in the early days of the “Music of the Spheres World Tour,” wanted more.
A solid proof of the fact that the band was prepared to make the tour an out-of-the-world experience. With all that happened in 2022, visiting 17 countries and tens of cities, Coldplay were not fully prepared for what 2023 had in store for them.
“Music of the Spheres World Tour” – 2023
Coldplay took a long break from November 2022 and resumed the “Music of the Spheres World Tour” in March 2023. Their first show was held at Estádio do Morumbi, which is located in Brazil’s São Paulo. More than 73k people made it to the concert each night for the 6 nights that Coldplay performed, and they walked out of Brazil with over $40,104,881.
Safe to say, even this encounter didn’t prepare them for what the rest of the year had in store for them. The British band went through 18 countries on different continents, and not for once did they stop going or disappoint their fans with a dull performance.
Coldplay are consistent in the sense that if someone tells you the story of their encounter in one of Coldplay’s concerts in another country, rest assured you’re gonna experience the same thing when the tour comes to your city. And it’s hard to argue that people don’t love Coldplay because if it was so, how do you explain all the times they kept breaking attendance records in major cities across the globe, including places they’ve visited before?
Their incurred revenue in 2022 proved to be child’s play in 2023. They moved from $340 million to $800 million by the end of 2023. By that time, “The Music of the Spheres World Tour” began creating the expression that it was going to be a billion-dollar tour before they wrapped it up in 2024.
“Music of the Spheres World Tour” – 2024
And now, we are in 2024, with Coldplay still maintaining the same energy as they started the tour with in 2022. And this time, the cities they’re set to visit especially in October and November will be some of the luckiest because they get to be entertained by Coldplay’s new album “Moon Music,” as well.
Coldplay already started performing some songs from their new album, such as “Feelslikeimfallinginlove.” One of their sweetest performances of the song was recorded in Budapest, and from the reaction of the crowd, you could tell that they loved what they heard and were ready for the album.
The British band has also opened their site for “Moon Music” album pre-order and the traffic is something else. Probably more than they received when the “Music of the Spheres World Tour” ticket sales began.
Unlike 2022 and 2023, Coldplay began the 2024 leg of the “Music of the Spheres World Tour” in January. Philippines was their LZ and they held their concert in Philippine Arena for 2 nights, where they incurred a revenue of $15,425,465. Even though they have yet to round up the tour, we know it’s going to be a billion-dollar tour by the end of 2024.
