TESSAN Genie GaN 65W Charging Station – Review

By Steve Crabtree, June 2026
If you were to have taken a look under my desk at home, you would have found a scene of absolute chaos. I had a massive six-gang extension lead down there, which had become a total nightmare of tangled wires. Between the work setup and my personal tech, the floor was a snake pit. The big pain was that the vast majority of these cables were actually USBs, all plugged into separate, chunky mains blocks.
That mess made its way over my desk top too. Then, when the dog came in for a mid-morning visit to curl up under my feet, there was a danger that something was going to get pulled to the ground.
I desperately needed to reclaim that floor space and banish the tangle. That is exactly how the TESSAN Genie GaN 65W Charging Station ended up on my desktop. It promised to squeeze eight separate power points into a tiny vertical hub, and I was keen to see if it could actually replace my heavy-duty extension.

“A palm-sized powerhouse”
Honestly, I was really surprised when I first unboxed this unit. It is significantly smaller than I anticipated, taking up an incredibly small footprint on the desk. Because it uses advanced GaN technology, TESSAN has managed to shrink the internal components down without losing an ounce of power, which means it saves even more workspace.
It looks nice and neat tucked away right under my monitor, blending into the setup perfectly. It is lightweight enough that I could easily chuck it into a bag to carry around on trips, yet it feels entirely robust and solid. You get the distinct impression that it would easily survive a few knocks or an accidental drop without breaking.
“Things charge fast”
In active use, this little tower has been an absolute upgrade on my old extension cable. Lifting all those connections up from the floor onto the top of my desk has completely transformed how organised my office looks.
Right now, it has enough muscle to run my two laptops and a second screen, while simultaneously charging my smartphone. Even with all of that plugged in, I still have an AC socket and three USB slots completely spare. It has become the central hub for all my smaller gear—watches, cameras, and microphones now sit neatly on top of the desk right next to the power source, rather than dangling down to the floor.
Importantly, things charge fast. That wattage packs its punch and gets your tech juiced up in no time.

Built with advanced GaN technology, a grounded LED indicator, non-slip pads, and a fireproof shell, it provides ultimate convenience and safety for home, office, and journey.”
The verdict
All in all, it’s a necessity that you’ll end up taking for granted, but it’s does change your life from a power point of view. Further fncidentals worth noting are the non-slip pads on the base which keeps it in its own place on the desk, and the power light on the top that’s tasteful and subtle. Add to the fact it comes with a 2m power chord, you get quite a bit of freedom for placing the unit where you want it.
I am genuinely chuffed with this bit of kit. The TESSAN Genie has done exactly what I wanted it to do, completely rescuing my floor from a mountain of cables and making my entire workspace look miles better organised.
It is a clever, ultra-compact design that proves you do not need a massive plastic power strip under your feet just to keep your day-to-day tech alive. If you are sick of wrestling with a tangled web of USB plugs and want a neat, durable solution right at arm’s reach, this is a cracking investment.
