A Q&A with SoftWave

Danish Synthpop Duo…
What’s the title of your latest release, and what does it mean to you?
‘things we’ve done’ contains everything we can do together, so it really means everything to us.
What was the hardest part about putting this release together, and why?
Finance was the toughest challenge.
Who produced the release – what did they bring to it? If you produced it yourselves what do you enjoy most about producing your own material?
We loved the entire process of building something from scratch.
What do you want the listener to take away from listening to your music?
It’s completely up to each listener what they take away.
How does a track normally come together? Can you tell us something about the process?
Jerry usually comes up with chords, then Catrine creates topline melodies, and finally we add lyrics.
What band/artists have influenced you the most since you started this project, and why?
Erasure, because they have a similar energy to ours and they’re simply the best synthpop duo ever.
What countries would you like to tour? Are there any standout venues you’d like to play in?
We’d love to tour in the US and Chile.
If you could pick one track for our readers to listen to in order to get a taste of your music, what would you pick, and why?
‘Something is Missing’ (OMD’s favourite SoftWave track), ‘Supernova’ (everyone needs an idol), or ‘Taking Life for Granted’ (if you like ABBA).
What ambitions do you have for the band/your career?
To have a management contract and to tour the world.
Finally, as you leave the stage, what are your parting words?
“See you at the merchandise table” or “See you at our next concert and enjoy the rest of the night!”
