Dog Accessories 2025

By Steve Crabtree, June 2025

As any dog owner knows, our four-legged friends deserve a bit of comfort, care, and quality gear. In the house, out of the house, and when they’ve just come back from a muddy walk or a splash through a river.

Our excitedly bouncy one-year-old Springer-Pointer cross, Milo, has been putting a bunch of pet products through their paces recently. Here’s what he thinks of the one that made the cut…

Paws for Slumber Luxury Pet Bed

This plush velour pet bed is designed with serious comfort in mind. Filled with soft hollowfibre and 20cm thick, it offers deep support for tired joints – ideal for dogs who need a cosy place to rest or recover. The soft, velvety finish is inviting and durable, while the raised sides give dogs a secure space to curl up in. A proper retreat for restful sleep, especially after long walks and busy days.

What Milo thinks…
Milo loves to be around us as much as he can. He wants to be close by when I’m working in the office at home, when we’re watching TV as a family, or if our 12 year old is doing homework in her bedroom. We tend to move this around the house depending on where we know he’ll want to settle for a bit, and its comfort levels must be high – he’ll loll around on it for hours in the company of us all!

Paws for Slumber Orthopaedic Pet Bed

Designed for dogs who need extra joint support, this orthopaedic bed is firm, durable, and wonderfully comfy. The edge-to-edge pad helps reduce pressure on muscles and keeps its shape over time – no sagging or sunken middles here. Machine-washable and quick-drying, it’s easy to keep fresh after muddy outings. Even better, Slumberdown is donating £30,000 from pet bed sales to Dogs Trust, helping more pups find a comfy place to call home.

What Milo thinks…
This dog bed is a winner – it’s actually Milo’s goto relaxation bed, and he loves it. Because of his breed, he’s certainly gets his sprints in on every walk we take him on, so he gets his regular snoozes in on it – and has a good night’s sleep on it too. Its grey colouring fits nicely with our decor, so it works for him AND us in every possible doggy-bed way!

Mountain Paws Dog Towel

This handy microfibre towel is ideal for post-walk clean-ups, whether you’re drying muddy paws at the door or wiping down after a dip. It’s soft, super absorbent, and quick to dry – a practical must-have for the boot of the car or your hallway. Built-in hand pockets give you more control with wriggly pups, and you can tuck the towel into them to help keep mess contained.

What Milo thinks…
Drying off is a massive game to Milo – so it can be difficult with a normal towel to get him dry after a walk in the rain, or a quick shower to wash off any muck from our walks. Because this is quick and compact (imagine a dog towel in oven glove form) it’s a godsend.  We can dry him off easier, he can jump on the sofa sooner, and we’re not telling him to stop trying to tug on the towel! Win-win!

DotDotPet Bamboo Towel

This super soft bamboo towel makes drying off your dog after a bath (or a muddy walk) quick and easy. It’s highly absorbent and fast-drying, helping reduce wet-dog chaos at home. The clever design includes hand pockets and a hood to help you dry your dog without getting soaked yourself. Made from bamboo and cotton, it’s both sustainable and gentle on fur – ideal for medium to large breeds who like to make a splash.

What Milo thinks…
See what I said about him thinking towel drying is mostly a game with the larger towels? Well, we thought that was going to be the case with this one. However, the hood and pockets make this much more controllable, and Milo seems to enjoy being dried off with this towel, without thinking it’s something he has to play tug-of-war with!

Mountain Paws Fleece Lined Dog Coat

Perfect for winter walks, this fleece-lined coat combines warmth and weather protection in one neat package. It features a tough waterproof Cordura outer and a soft berber fleece lining to keep your dog warm on chilly hikes. Reflective piping adds visibility in low light, while the underbelly straps make it quick and easy to fasten securely. A great option for adventurous pups who don’t let the weather stop them.

What Milo thinks…
Now, we haven’t had much rain recently, but when we have had a couple of rainy moments and its been walk-time, we’ve kitted Milo up in this coat, and he looks quite the part. We’ve only used it on short walks so far because of its fleecy properties, but it’s kept him bone dry. He’ll love it when we hit autumn, and the colder months are with us again.

Mikki Doodles Drying Robe & Bag Set

This smart robe and bag set takes the hassle out of drying your dog after a bath or walk. The full-body robe fits comfortably, with room for the tail and a neck roll to cover the ears. It’s made from super-absorbent microfibre to speed up drying and reduce mess on furniture or in the car. The matching drawstring bag doubles as a mitt for muddy paws – handy and practical for everyday use.

What Milo thinks…
Milo LOVES this. Because usually, after we’ve showered him, it’s a good few hours before he’s allowed on the sofa because he’s still damp. But this robe dries him, and stops all that dog wetness getting on the furniture, meaning he can chill, we can chill, and he can dry off over time, going where he wants.

Mikki Doodles Harness

This harness is designed with curly-coated breeds in mind, helping reduce knots and tangles around the armpits and chest. Its smooth inner lining is gentle on fur, while the low-coverage design keeps things breathable. The ‘Y’ shape allows free movement without pressing on joints, and the fit can be adjusted as your dog’s coat grows. With both front and back lead attachments, it offers flexibility for casual strolls or more controlled walks.

What Milo thinks…
Although he isn’t a curly coated kind of dog, this harness is a comfier and softer feel over Milo’s chest than his previous one. It’s simple to adjust, it’s sturdy for the lead, and it’s lightweight too. He loves his walks in this harness, and it gives us as owners piece of mind that, when he needs to be on the lead he’s secure and he’s comfortable.

RRP: £29.96 – amazon.co.uk

Cosy Cottage Pet Shampoo Bar

A gentle alternative to liquid shampoo, this solid bar is made for dogs with sensitive skin – and comes in two natural scent blends. Lavender, Lemongrass & Neem helps ward off fleas and ticks, while Cedarwood & Carrot Seed offers anti-inflammatory benefits. Like all Cosy Cottage products, it’s free from harsh chemicals and comes in plastic-free packaging. Kind to your dog, kind to your hands, and kinder to the planet.

What Milo thinks…
Some dogs hate shower time, some just tolerate it. Milo seems to like it, so why not pamper him whilst we wash him down?  The nice thing about this shampoo bar is how kind it is to his skin. Add to that the pleasant smell (after stink of wet-dog here!) afterwards, and everyone’s happy.

Petface Soft Snuffle Ball Pet Treat Toy

If your dog loves sniffing out hidden treats, this soft Snuffle Ball from Petface is a winner. Designed to trigger natural foraging instincts, it’s a great way to keep your pet mentally stimulated. It works like a little puzzle – you tuck the treats into the folds and let your pet do the rest. It’s also a handy stress-reliever for anxious pets. Lightweight and soft, it’s ideal for indoor play.

What Milo thinks…
By far, Milo’s favourite toy. To be honest, when we got this, we didn’t think it’d last two minutes – but it’s made of really strong stuff and even in his most pull-and-chew play moments, this ball doesn’t give an inch. It keeps him occupied, and by letting him find treats hidden within the ruffles of the material, it rewards him for playing too. This has quite a bit of life in it yet, but when it comes to the day that Milo’s finally destroyed the snuffle ball, we’ll be buying another!

RRP: £7.30 – animed.co.uk

KONG Aqua

Ideal for dogs who love a swim or a splash, the KONG Aqua is a lightweight floating toy perfect for water-based fetch. The foam core keeps it buoyant, while the attached rope helps you launch it long distances – on land or in the water. It’s durable, easy to spot, and great for encouraging active play. A reliable choice for beach days, lake dips, or just garden games with the hose on.

What Milo thinks…
Milo isn’t much of a swimmer at the moment. He loves a good paddle, but where lots of dogs love to chase a toy into the water and swim to retrieve it, Milo would rather trot around where his feet can touch the ground. That said, he loves to chew a toy, and some toys we’ve tried only last a few minutes before we have to take them away. But the KONG Aqua is a challenge for Milo, and lets us get involved from the sofa in a tug-of-war game, that he generally wins!

Ruffingtons Dog Treats

Dog-friendly biscuits, truffles, and cupcakes made with safe ingredients like carob and yoghurt. Cute, creative, and handmade for your four-legged friends. These small-batch treats are free from added salt, sugar and preservatives, and crafted with care here in the UK. Perfect as a seasonal gift or everyday reward, they’re tail-waggingly good and safe for all breeds.

What Milo thinks…
Friends and food is what Milo likes best, and when treats are as good as this, he’s a very happy boy. We feel like we’re giving him something special when we hand him a cupcake or a truffle, it’s almost like a fine dining presented dog treat. But knowing they’re made from kinder ingredients means we’re giving him something that’s tasty and better for his health.

RRP: £4.00–£7.00 – ruffingtons.co.uk

So there we have it. A really fantastic selection of dog accessories that our lad loves, and so do we. These bits and pieces have genuinely helped on our walks, at home and everywhere in between. Milo’s tested them all – and while he can’t write reviews himself, the tail wags have been a decent indicator of just what he thinks of them!
