Edifier MS50A Wireless Smart Speaker – Review
I’m a big fan of music, good sound, and Edifier speakers. Lately, our garage has had a bit of a mini transformation – from a junk store into a hybrid gym-cum-junk store! And with the new found me getting into home workouts, I knew I needed my favourite motivating sounds to help power me through the sessions.
The house is already kitted out with Edifier products, and their Neo Buds are my earphones of choice when I’m out and about. So it was obvious I’d turn to Edifier once again when looking for something to sit nicely on the shelf in the garage. That’s why I picked up the Edifier MS50A Wireless Smart Speaker.

Setting it up…
With a few Edifier products already dotted around the house, one of the things I love most about them is how ridiculously easy they are to set up. The MS50A was no different. It connects via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, and sorting both was a total doddle.
Bluetooth connection was up and running in seconds, and Wi-Fi connection wasn’t much longer than that. It’s a simple plug-it-into-the-wall situation – honestly, the hardest part was deciding where to put it!
First Impressions
It’s a neat and tidy unit – more of a bookshelf-sized speaker, really – and truth be told, it looks far too nice to be hidden away in a garage! But it fits snugly into the corner of the room and does exactly what I need it to do.
Soundwise, I wasn’t surprised at just how rich the output from this speaker is. It’s beautiful. Although you can’t adjust the sound directly on the unit like you can with some of Edifier’s other models, downloading the Edifier app gives you a bit more control over your audio profile.
The touch panel on top of the speaker is a really clever touch too. There’s a solid button in the centre, with tap-and-twirl controls for volume, arrows to change track, and quick switching between modes and connections. It’s simple, responsive and a joy to use.
Whether it’s Manic Street Preachers, Nile Rodgers, or Jungle blasting through my workouts, the MS50A delivers the kind of rich, vibrant sound that keeps me moving.

The Verdict
Once again, I’m blown away by this brand and how good their products are for a fairly modest price point. Visitors to the house always comment on how great the music sounds, and I always end up introducing them to the world of Edifier – so it was no surprise this speaker delivered the goods too.
It’s not quite their D12 (my favourite speaker of all time), but it’s as close as you could hope for at this size. What it delivers to your ears in terms of richness, clarity and feeling is seriously impressive. And when it comes to music, that’s everything.
It’s a brilliant speaker and a fantastic companion to my new workout sessions. Highly recommended!
