Alternative R&B from Berlin – here’s Kean Farrar…

What’s the title of your latest release, and what does it mean to you?
‘Always Come Around’ is my latest song and it’s about secretly seeing someone who is in a relationship.

What was the hardest part about putting this release together, and why?
Choosing when to put the song out. I feel like it would have been a great summer record, but I did not want to wait that long. I don’t like sitting on records for too long.

Who produced the release – what did they bring to it?
I made ‘Always Come Around’. with an amazing producer called Stickle. He played me the beat and the whole song just flowed from there.

What do you want the listener to take away from listening to your music?
I want to put them in the mood I was in while making the song. I want them to get a glimpse of my world.

How does a track normally come together? Can you tell us something about the process?
I usually write songs on my guitar when I’m by myself and then go produce and record them with others. The process of ‘Always Come Around’ was different though, I wrote the entire track in the studio after hearing the beat.

What band/artists have influenced you the most since you started this project, and why?
The Neptunes. Their production shaped the sound of the early 2000’s, which is the biggest influence to ‘Always Come Around’.

What countries would you like to tour? Are there any standout venues you’d like to play in?
I would love to tour in Japan. I never been there, but want to go badly. As for venues, I want to play Berghain in Berlin, the city I’m from.
