VonHaus White Standing Desk

By Steve Crabtree, April 2025

Since 2020, creating working spaces at home is the norm. And finding the right desk can be the key to staying comfortable and productive. Standing desks are fast becoming a staple for anyone looking to mix up their working posture, and VonHaus have delivered a budget-friendly, fully electric option that’s ideal for home offices without dominating the room.

I recently put the White Medium Standing Desk (100cm x 60cm) to the test to see how it performed day-to-day.

What’s in the box

  • Desk frame and desktop pieces (flat-packed)
  • Clear instruction manual
  • Two Allen keys
  • Clips and cable management accessories
  • Labelled fittings for assembly
  • Spare parts (screws and fittings)

The VonHaus Standing Desk arrived in one compact box, with everything clearly packaged and labelled. It was simple to check everything before starting assembly.

Setting it up

After getting the box open, there are a few parts and pieces to take a look through and sort. But building the desk turned out to be much easier than I expected. Everything was sensibly packed, and the instructions were clear for the most part – although working out the control rods and motor connections took a bit of trial and error for this novice DIY-er. Nothing too daunting though, and once that was in place it was just a matter of fitting the desktop sections and plugging everything in.

The control panel is straightforward too: simple up and down buttons, plus a couple of memory settings you can save. A really neat touch is the built-in USB and USB-C ports on the side, which instantly cut down the clutter of chargers around my workspace.

Even better, the motor hums away so quietly you barely notice it’s moving. A thoughtful design touch – especially if you’re adjusting height mid-Zoom-call!

First Impressions

After the build, and chucking away all the packaging, it was standing proudly in my office. It looks great, and I was genuinely impressed.

A clean, modern feel that doesn’t take up loads of space – ideal for my home setup. Admittedly, the desktop is made up of two pieces, so there’s a faint groove down the centre. I was a bit disappointed at this initially, but then in practice, it doesn’t get in the way at all.

The surface area is plenty big enough to comfortably hold my laptop, second screen, notebooks and usual daily clutter without feeling cramped. Sturdiness-wise, it’s solid and steady at every height, which is exactly what you want from a standing desk. For the price, the whole thing felt like a real step up from my previous corner desk setup.

I also got my hands on a VonHaus Gas Lift Monitor Arm (£24.99) to further aid space. This lets me position my second screen nicely, swivel it around when I want to, and that was a nice, easy set up too.

What VonHaus say

“Help combat the aches and pains of the traditional office environment with this adjustable 100x60cm standing desk. The user-friendly control panel makes height adjustment a breeze; simply press the up/down arrows to find your perfect position. With a wide height range of 72-118cm (shown on the digital display), there’s an optimal set-up for everyone.”

Performance

I’m definitely more of a sitter than a stander when working, but having the option to easily move to a standing position is fantastic.

I found it’s ideal when you’re fed up of sitting for hours, or when you need to break up your day with a bit of creative thinking. Movement is smooth, the frame feels stable at any height, and I find it incredibly easy to switch positions when needed.

No loud noise, no juddering – just simple, smooth adjustment whenever I want it. I love that.

And, whether I’m seated on my Ergo-Tek office chair or not, it’s a functional and aesthetically pleasing desk with all the space I need and a little more. It’s comfortable to work at, and that just helps with a productive day.

The Verdict

After using the VonHaus standing desk for a few weeks, I can safely say I’m really chuffed with it. It’s comfortably handled everything I’ve thrown at it: laptop, second screen, ReMarkable e-writer, phone, notebooks, pens, and even the odd second laptop for good measure. I still have enough room left for a much-needed brew (essential, obviously).

It feels sturdy and secure, looks smart without being showy, and has genuinely made my small home office feel a bit more organised and professional. The built-in charging ports are a brilliant little bonus too.

Overall? A cracking investment that’s made working from home just that bit easier – and one I can see lasting me a long while yet.
