A Q&A with Joe Sib

From punk rock frontman to stand-up comic, Joe Sib has lived a life shaped by power chords, punchlines, and parenting. Ahead of his debut UK one-man show California Calling, the Sideonedummy Records co-founder and former WAX vocalist gives us his Famous Last Words

Last thing you did that made you feel good?
Helping my son throw his 21st birthday party. Setting it up, planning the night — just being there for him. Felt like a win.

Last thing you’d want to be doing right now?
Painting houses or digging ditches like I did during summer breaks — in the heat, hungover, regretting every sip from the night before.

Last night on Earth… What’s your poison?
A Pacifico, a shot of good gold tequila, and being surrounded by family and friends. That’s the dream right there.

Last supper… What are you ordering?
Carnitas tacos, extra salsa, and a mountain of chips I pretend not to want but absolutely destroy.

Last person you’d want to share a drink with?
Anyone pretentious, self-righteous, or just a di*k. Life’s too short for bad vibes.

Last time you shed a tear and why?
Watching my daughter create something powerful with her filmmaking. It hit me in a deep, proud-dad way.

Last refuge… where would you go?
Somewhere with waves, warm water, no cell signal — just the ocean and time.

Last the course… tips on loot, love & life?
Don’t take yourself too seriously. Don’t stress about what people think — they’re not thinking about you.
Stop racing yourself. It’s not a sprint, it’s your story.
And tell the people you love that you love ‘em. Say it out loud.

Last but one… Tell us something that interests you that nobody else knows about.
When I was 10, I was a magician. I did shows at schools and pizza parlors — got paid in dollars and applause. To me, magicians were the first rock stars.

Your Famous Last Words?
“Wait… are we rolling?!”

See Joe Sib live in ‘California Calling’ for one night only at Seven Dials Playhouse, London, on 25th July
