A Q&A with Otherworldly Entity

Numetal energy with emotional depth…
What’s the title of your latest release, and what does it mean to you?
Our newest single is called ‘Tower’. It’s a song about feeling like you have to start over again after losing everything. I think a lot of people can relate to that.
What was the hardest part about putting this release together, and why?
Shooting the music video was a pretty arduous task. We wanted to remove the viewer from their everyday life, so we shot in a very remote forest with solar generators for lighting. We ended up having to evacuate because of flooding. It was a crazy but amazing experience.
Who produced the release – what did they bring to it? If you produced it yourselves what do you enjoy most about producing your own material?
Jeremy Stimpert has been our producer since day one, and he’s our remote fourth band member. He’s not involved in the writing process, so he hears every song with fresh ears. He’s added so much to our music, especially in the fine details.
What do you want the listener to take away from listening to your music?
We always want a good, dynamic range of emotion. We’re not one of those “nothing-but-anger” bands. We as humans go through such a wide array of emotions, even on a daily basis. We want to capture that.
How does a track normally come together? Can you tell us something about the process?
We don’t really have a process. Every song is different. Sometimes, we sit in a room and jam something out, sometimes we talk it out, sometimes we send each other demos. It’s just however the song organically forms.
What band/artists have influenced you the most since you started this project, and why?
It’s been all over the place, like numetal often is. I think playing with other bands has really inspired us in different directions. Psyclon Nine, Infected Rain, Cold, Tantric – playing with such amazing bands inspires us every time.
What countries would you like to tour?
We would love to get to Europe. We have a lot of fans in Austria, Slovenia, Germany, Norway – all over that beautiful continent. So that is a dream of ours.
Are there any standout venues you’d like to play in?
We’ve actually been pushing to knock out our bucket list venues. I think we really just want to get into playing more festivals.
If you could pick one track for our readers to listen to in order to get a taste of your music, what would you pick, and why?
I would say either ‘Foreplay’ or ‘Sin’. They both represent us musically very well, for different reasons. ‘Foreplay’ has a great build up, and ‘Sin’ feels like a party.
What ambitions do you have for the band/your career?
To travel and meet people. It’s about the writing.
Finally, as you leave the stage, what are your parting words?
“Be kind, always.”
