A Q&A with May The Muse

MoodPop and heartfelt songwriting…
What’s the title of your latest release, and what does it mean to you?
The song is called ‘Cruel World’ and it’s the first positive love song I ever wrote, which is nice!
What was the hardest part about putting this release together, and why?
The hardest part was finding the right people to work with. The music industry is full of scams.
Who produced the release – what did they bring to it? If you produced it yourselves what do you enjoy most about producing your own material?
My partner Justin Hawkins produced the record. He got the best musicians involved and was excellent in finding the right sound for each song.
What do you want the listener to take away from listening to your music?
You’re free. Make it yours.
How does a track normally come together? Can you tell us something about the process?
I usually write something on the piano or guitar and then forget about it for a couple of months. I once wrote the same song twice.
What band/artists have influenced you the most since you started this project, and why?
I listened a lot to Sisters Of Mercy while making this album.
What countries would you like to tour? Are there any standout venues you’d like to play in?
All of the countries. All of the nice venues.
If you could pick one track for our readers to listen to in order to get a taste of your music, what would you pick, and why?
‘Roses’.
What ambitions do you have for the band/your career?
I just want to travel the world, make music and be happy!
Finally, as you leave the stage, what are your parting words?
Thank you and good night.
