The Échappée Jurassienne; the itinerary featuring the great sites of the Jura:
It is entirely possible to combine culture, heritage and nature in the Jura Mountains. The Échappée Jurassienne is a walking itinerary that crosses the Jura from west to east, made up of
300km of sign-posted trails (GR®) from Dole to Saint-Claude, via the resort of Les Rousses and passing the vineyards, lakes and waterfalls…
The section from Dole to Lons-le-Saunier allows you to visit countless heritage sites such as the Royal Salt Works of Arc-et-Senans, the Great Salt Works at Salins-les-Bains, the birth house of Louis Pasteur, the Château de Frontenay as well as the town of Arbois, the capital of Jura wines.
The second section from Lons-le-Saunier to Saint-Claude offers a great many spectacular nature sites like the blind valley of Conliège, the lake of Chalain, the Hérisson Falls, the Pic de l’Aigle and the Belvédère des 4 Lacs; enough to satisfy even the most demanding visitor.
Details of all accommodation sites and the trail itself can be found in the TopoGuides® created by FFRandonnée. A baggage transfer service is also available from Malle Postale allowing you
to travel light.
The Échappée Jurassienne is a real reference point. This itinerary forms part of the Grands Itinéraires de France network and IGN has just included it on its own maps.
