Tour De Yorkshire Artist Lucy Pittaway Unveils Cycling Collection
Yorkshire Artist Lucy Pittaway has unveiled her eight-piece Tour de Yorkshire inspired Collection at Victoria Leeds. All eight original paintings are exclusively displayed for the people of Yorkshire to view for a period of two weeks at the new Victoria Leeds shopping centre in the Lucy Pittaway Pop-up Art Gallery.
The headline piece of Lucy Pittaway’s collection is the Official Picture of the Tour de Yorkshire 2017. ‘Pedals, Passion and Glory’ (pictured right), depicts the speed and colour of the Peloton as it races through the beautiful Yorkshire countryside and towns. Pieces from the wider collection include artistic representations of some of Yorkshire and the North East’s iconic landmarks, including Fountains Abbey, Hebden Bridge, Ribblehead Viaduct and the famous Whitby Whale Bone Arch.
Richmond based artist Lucy Pittaway, The Fine Art Trade Guild’s ‘Up and Coming Artist of the Year’, is the Official Artist of the Tour de Yorkshire for a second year, following the popularity of Lucy’s picture titled ‘Hills, Dales and Woolly Tails’ from the 2016 Tour.
“A reminder of the three wonderful days the event brings”
Lucy says of her 2017 collection: “It is such a great honour to represent Yorkshire once again at this year’s Tour, by creating pieces of art that capture the beauty of our Yorkshire region, bringing to life the amazing spectacle that is the Tour de Yorkshire. Hopefully it gives the people of Yorkshire something to keep as a reminder of the three wonderful days the event brings”.
Lucy has teamed up with Victoria Leeds to launch a Pop-up Art Gallery for a period of six weeks until May 31st.
James Bailey, General Manager at Victoria Leeds says: “It’s a delight to welcome the Lucy Pittaway Art Gallery to Victoria Gate. We’re proud to be part of a diverse retail landscape in Leeds and to partner with a Yorkshire artist doing so well in her home county.”
The eight piece collection showcases Yorkshire from an artistic perspective in a sea of colour. It appeals to both young and old, serious to recreational cyclists, or just proud lovers of the Yorkshire region.
Lucy’s Tour de Yorkshire Collection, along with a selection of her most popular award winning artwork, will be available to view at the Lucy Pittaway Pop-up Gallery in Victoria Gate. Works are also on display at the Lucy Pittaway Art Gallery in Brompton-on-Swale, Richmond, North Yorkshire.
