The Piece Hall, Halifax to Re-Open On 4th July

The Piece Hall Reopening 2020

It’s great news for Halifax, as The Piece Hall announces it will re-open to the public on 4th July.

In tentative initial steps, opening hours will be 10-4, Tuesday to Sunday, and a maximum of 500 people will be allowed in the building at any one time.

And prior to that, between 15th June and 3rd July, some retailers such as Al’s Emporium, Eden Keshia, G’s Cakes, Just Gaia, Leon Dewhurst and Yorkshire Gallery – will be opening on an appointment only basis. Elder restaurant will be running their ‘Elder at Home’ weekly delivery and collection service.

To keep people safe, The Piece Hall has been putting plans in place for a phased re-opening of the building. And that means tenants, staff and visitors have been considered by the 18th-century cloth hall, that now houses history exhibits, shops, bars & restaurants.

Sanitizer stations will be introduced at the entrances of The Piece Hall and throughout the courtyard. As part of their risk assessments, each tenant will also be providing sanitizer stations for customers’ use. Additional cleaning will be taking place throughout the day. And the gents toilet facilities will be next to the Deli with the ladies by Gin Lane.

“A different, socially distanced experience”

The Piece Hall is aiming to be fully re-open at a later date, when government advice allows. But throughout the phased re-opening period, entry will be through North Gate (Woolshops). Exit will be from West Gate (Westgate Arcade).

Those independent businesses that are able to re-open will do so from 10am on 4 July. Social media feeds will keep the public up to date with who’s open, with the website updated on a regular basis. Some businesses, events and activities will take longer to reopen and The Piece Hall will monitor government guidelines to ensure all activities can return safely when the time is right.

It will be a different, socially distanced experience on 4th July. But the warm welcome that everyone has come to expect from a visit to The Piece Hall will be there.
