New Releases for Yorkshire’s Fran Minney, Drew Davies and The Harriets
Three artists previously featured in On: Magazine’s ‘Yorkshire Music Scene‘ section – a segment devised to give first exposure to emerging music talent from Yorkshire – are all releasing new records this summer.
Fran Minney from Leeds releases ‘Sirens’ as a single on June 22. Recorded in isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic, the song is a dreamy slice of indie electronica about repeatedly losing the fight to reach a better version of yourself.
A culmination of 10 years’ worth of music industry experience, from session playing, gigging with bands and solo playing, Drew Davies is a skilful and mature record, underscored with a seam of burnished nostalgia.
The album was mixed by Steve Honest (Oasis, Eurythmics) and mastered by John Webber (David Bowie, Super Furry Animals).
Finally, West Yorkshire’s The Harriets promote their July 24 debut album with lead single, ‘Cafe Disco’.
The duo’s sweet blend of harmony, melody and indie pop lyricism is now fully-formed, demonstrated by recent sell-out shows in London and a place on the Glastonbury Emerging Talent shortlist.
