Comic Con Comes to Sheffield Vinyl Hot Spot

Founded by comic book expert Bambos Georgiou, Sheffield Comics Network is holding a Comics Micro Con on Saturday 16th February 2019 from midday to 5pm at Tonearm Vinyl, Sheffield.

The event is an opportunity to meet comic creatives from the network who have worked on Viz, The Beano, Wallace & Gromit and Conan The Barbarian. There will be comics for all ages on sale from Marvel, DC and vintage Eagles, original comic book artwork by the network’s comic creatives and zines by emerging local talent, all in the fascinating setting of a meticulously curated selection of vinyl featuring many examples of the iconic cover artwork of our times.

In 2018 network members Georgiou and Ed Syder delivered a highly successful series of children’s comic book workshops for Sheffield Libraries and Georgiou taught a comic book course for teenagers as part of a Ruskin in Sheffield project ‘Seeing Beauty, Inspiring Minds’, part funded by Arts Council England.

The event on Saturday 16th February is free and family friendly and there will be an opportunity to try Sheffield Hallam University’s comic reading eye scanner. Tonearm Vinyl is at 293 South Rd, Sheffield S6 3TA and is easily accessible by car and on the 95 bus route, which runs every fifteen minutes from the city via Commonside to South Road, Walkley
