Buzzcocks to Headline Stellar Winter Line-up at The Piece Hall

Piece Hall Buzzcocks

Seminal punk rock band the Buzzcocks have been announced as the headline act of a star-studded line-up of exciting gigs and events taking place at the Grade I-listed cultural venue this festive season for all the family.

The band are set to perform at the Halifax venue on 11 December 2021. Adding to recently-announced performances from the likes of house music legend Graeme Park and rapper Graft, and already sold-out shows from Ibiza legend Ellie Sax and the Our House Family, a number of other exciting artists have today been revealed to complete the winter programme. Artists set to perform in the giant circus-style Spiegletent include The Craig Charles Funk & Soul Club; Lottery Winners; The Landlubbers; Halifax Choral Society with the Black Dyke; and LoneLady, fresh from her appearance at New Order’s gig at The Piece Hall in September.

“Something for everyone”

The venue will be bringing the festive spirit back in a big way and offering something for everyone this winter, hosting its annual Christmas Eve Big Sing as well as a New Year’s Eve Comedy Club, a mini family rave with Boom Chikka Boom, and kids’ cinema sessions showing Christmas classics like Elf, Polar Express and Frozen.

All of the Spiegletent performances and activities will take place within the magical setting of the venue’s 66,000 sq ft courtyard, complete with a spectacular 30 ft Christmas tree and traditional carousel.

Nicky Chance-Thompson DL, chief executive of The Piece Hall Trust, said: “We can’t wait to welcome visitors back to The Piece Hall for Christmas this year. The festive period is all about sharing experiences and enjoying time with loved ones, and we’ve worked hard to make sure that our line-up this year offers people of all ages and interests the opportunity to do just that.

“With performances from artists like Graft and Graeme Park to the Buzzcocks and Craig Charles, as well as Christmas films for the kids and a traditional sing-along before the big day, we’ve got plenty in store to bring some cheer to this extra-special season.

“A special place”

Steve Diggle told us “I am really looking forward to playing the great Piece Hall and seeing all our fans. It’s a special place and it’s going to be a great night for us all.”
