The explosive punk magic of Queen Zee is set to reign in Yorkshire for two can’t-miss tours, as the Merseyside outfit support two musical heavyweights.

Following up on the release and success of their debut self-titled album in February the band will support Skunk Anansie and fellow Liverpudlians The Zutons at Leeds O2 Academy.

Since reforming in September 2016, for a one off show, the Zutons have kept the lines of communications open and in November 2018 the band announced a reunion tour to play Who Killed… The Zutons? on its 15th anniversary. While original members Dave McCabe, Boyan Chowdhury, Sean Payne and Abi Harding were all on board, Russell Pritchard confirmed that he wasn’t taking part in the reunion tour via social media. In place of Pritchard, Cast member Jay Lewis has been recruited to play bass.

Skunk Anansie released their eighth studio album Anarchytecture back in 2016, which was followed by European tours. With an amalgam of heavy metal and feminist rage, lead singer Skin remains one of the UK’s greatest and most underrated female vocalists.

“New generation”

Queen Zee has rapidly established a cult following over the last year as they continue to defy convention and subvert what it means to be a band. Their debut album’s ten tracks perfectly capture the mania of their now-infamous live show and firmly cements them as torch-bearers of a new generation of British guitar bands.

Last year the band also won PRS Flash Funding at The Great Escape Festival, which enabled them to put their madness into the debut record – they were then awarded PRS Momentum Funding to continue the journey.

Fronted by the idiosyncratically direct Zena Davine, the band is completed by co-founding member and multi-instrumentalist Jason Taylor-Brown, alongside Frankie Wortho, bass and vocals, Ash Summers, keyboards, percussion and vocals, and Dave Bloom, drums and percussion.

Queen Zee’s Yorkshire support dates are:
April 4 – Leeds – O2 Academy with The Zutons
August 30 – Leeds – O2 Academy with Skunk Anansie
