Pizzafest Returns to The Fulford Arms in York in 2020
EDITOR’S UPDATE, March 16, 2020: “Unfortunately, we’ve had to cancel Pizzafest this coming weekend due to the current Covid-19 situation. All the bands on the line-up will be playing at another Pizzafest in the future, when things have calmed down. We suggest you keep your ticket for the next Pizzafest, as it will still be valid. All being well, that will be in June and the date will be announced shortly. Ticket purchasers are obviously entitled to a refund, however, which can be made by emailing: [email protected]“

The proud curators of this event came up with the genius idea of combining two of my favourite things, music and pizza, and created most people’s dream day festival.
Now in its third year, hosted by York’s cacophonous married couple, Snakerattlers, who will also be performing on the day, the event sees various Yorkshire-based acts, such as Surf Muscle (pictured above), with their wonky, wonderful, mysterious surf instrumentals played by three fandabbydozy people from Sheffield.
“Extreme slop rock”
What’s Wrong With Homer? feature revved-up amps and hair flapping about all over the place, extreme slop rock and a razor cut vocal approach comes from Leeds’s The Sleazoids. There’s heavy garage blues, snapping and snarling and some big riffs and romping huge breakdowns from Hell Fire Jack and York legends, Percy, who are on the comeback trail with their post-punk garage pop sounds.
Alongside the local music troubadours, the all-day event, features a wealth of tip-top, dance-til-you-drop, underground garage rock bands from throughout the UK too.
Where does the pizza come in? Halfway through the event, a truckload of pizza arrives, and you can eat as much as you like, and all for the price of £10.00!
A ticket gets you in all day and gets you free pizza. Band times to be announced. Buy tickets beforehand if you are coming, not only does it get you a £5 discount, it also helps the venue out with how many to cater for.
