Upcoming Exhibition at Farsley’s Sunnybank Mills Showcases Creative Disciplines

Leeds based creatives, artist Mel Davies and jewellery designer Emma White, have collaborated on a new exhibition in one of Leeds’s upcoming creative hubs, Sunny Bank Mills in Farsley.

‘Every Picture Tells a Story’ brings together different creative disciplines under one banner, including metalwork, master recycling, art and jewellery, with each artist telling tales in their own, very individual, way.

Mel Davies’s bold and colourful statement paintings all carry an element of narrative and humour where not everything is as it first seems. Expect picnics up the river with Lady Chatterley’s lover and hipster waiters serving up chips in a bucket with lobsters on roof tiles.

“Personal tales”

On the other side of the creative spectrum, Emma White’s jewellery collection of intriguing, personalised pieces (pictured top) are made of personal tales stamped onto long ribbons of silver. Sometimes starting out up to a metre in length, they are then twisted up into tangles, knots and twists, forming necklaces and bracelets.

The narrative works, in jewellery and metal, of Evie Milo, Charlotte Whitmore and Helena Russell will also be showcased.

‘Every Picture Tells a Story’ is a landmark exhibition at Sunny Bank Mills marking the 50th show at the Gallery, where the work of over four hundred artists has been displayed since its creation in 2012.

The show opens on November 2, 6-9pm and then runs up to Christmas in the Gallery at Sunny Bank Mills – all work is for sale.
