Hertfordshire alternative rockers Enter Shikari are back with a full UK tour to showcase their latest album, The Spark, released in September 2017 – but if you want to get a ticket you will have to be pretty quick, as their Leeds show only has around 20-40 tickets left on sale.

With their post-hardcore riffs, accessible hooks and rich electro-rock melodies, it is easy to see why these lads have shot to such dizzying heights over the past decade, and their ability to look inside themselves to produce their material resonates with their fan base.

As front man Rou Reynolds explains: “What I was trying to do with this album in marrying the personal and the political is to ensure that human vulnerability is laid bare, and to not be afraid to speak about emotions.” The new material sees Reynolds lay his soul bare, in lyrics that some fans won’t have been privy to before.

“I’m not the only one feeling like this”

Reynolds, who suffers from anxiety, appreciates the irony in how he truly feels an overwhelming desire to connect with people when that feeling reaches its peak: “Which is weird because you’d think that’d clash, but I guess part of it is wanting to know that I’m not the only one feeling like this,” he says.

This tour sees the band taking on more arena dates, however, despite the size of the venues changing Enter Shakiri are still selling them out. This time around the band be supported by one of the biggest up and coming acts from Leeds, The Black Peaks, who have previously toured with such names as Perfect Circle and Marmozets, gaining more notoriety with each gig. The Black Peaks deliver music with presence that’s confident, stylistically unified and pointing towards their ascending goals.

Enter Shikari play Sheffield O2 Academy on Jan 10, and Leeds O2 Academy on February 2
