Embrace’s Homecoming Show

by Steve Crabtree – @stevecrab

Indie-rockers Embrace will be returning to their hometown Halifax, and the spectacular surroundings of The Piece Hall for a special homecoming show to celebrate debut album The Good Will Out this summer.

If you’re thinking about going to the gig at the jewel in Halifax’s crown, grab a ticket while you can.  Not many of them remain, with the band on the verge of announcing a complete sell out.

“Classic songs”

The gig promises to be one of the most talked about events of 2019. And the recently renovated Grade I listed Piece Hall will hear classic songs like ‘Come Back to What You Know’, ‘All You Good Good People’. The Halifax lads will also play a selection of the band’s greatest hits including ‘Gravity’; co-written with Coldplay’s Chris Martin.

Despite their gravity-defying career Embrace have remained well connected to Halifax. Keyboardist Mickey Dale is a renowned producer, and drummer Mike Heaton is on the team behind in the annual new music competition for young people ‘Centre Stage’.  And they’ve got a loyal fanbase in the area, who’ll all be at the open-air venue in June.

Good tunes, good atmosphere, good venue… great weather…?

Embrace Halifax

“On their own patch”

The show celebrates the anniversary of platinum-selling The Good Will Out. It’s the album that threw Embrace to stardom landing at number 1 as one of the fastest-selling debut albums in UK chart history.  It put them shoulder to shoulder with Brit-poppers like Oasis and Blur during a golden age for British music. And this show will see Embrace on their own patch, in the most talked about venue in the north.

And it’s not just about the headliners. There’s a few special names supporting Embrace too.

Joining them on this once-in-a-lifetime bill is Yorkshire’s Reverend and the Makers, recently resurgent Brit-poppers Sleeper and local boys-done-good Hope & Social. Lead singer Danny McNamara said: “We were born in Halifax and every time we’ve played there it’s been a really special gig. Now we have the honour of playing The Good Will Out 21st Anniversary gig at the legendary Piece Hall, a massive part of Halifax’s history, with a great line up of support bands we love. To say we’re all really looking forward to it would be a huge understatement.”

Embrace and special guests play The Piece Hall on Friday 28th June 2019. The last remaining tickets are on sale now from seetickets.com and lunatickets.co.uk.
