Altered Images To Party At The Picturedrome, Holmfirth
by Steve Crabtree / @stevecrab
One of the brightest stars in the 80’s new wave sky, Altered Images are coming to The Picturedrome in Holmfirth.
Best remembered for their no.1 single ‘Happy Birthday’, their bubbly lead singer Clare Grogan originally shot to fame in the film Gregory’s Girl, then later went onto appear in Red Dwarf. And she was a presenter on music station VH1.
Altered Images quickly had worldwide success, selling millions of records, which topped the charts in several countries. They recorded three top 10 albums and had six uk top 40 hits. They were voted best new group at the NME Awards the same year they were invited to play at the Royal Command Performance.
“Fun-filled Friday evening”
Clare has worked extensively in music, film, television, theatre and radio for 30+years. The summer she left school, Altered Images were signed to Sony Records. Clare received a special recognition award at the Scottish Music Awards and headlined a gala night at the Citizens Theatre in Glasgow.
Still gigging and doing the whole retro re-boot scene, Clare played to a sell-out crowd in LA at the Microsoft Arena in January, and recently made her debut at the Royal Albert Hall where she joined Texas on stage.
But the band are coming to Yorkshire, and to Homfirth in March. And it promises to be a fun-filled, Friday evening at a great venue. As well as Altered Images, there’ll be an I Love the 80s DJ pumping out the tunes too.
Altered Images plat The Picturedrome, Homfirth on Friday 6th March, and tickets are available from the Picturedrome website.
