Gina Yashere Q&A
‘Famous Last Words’ with comedian Gina Yashere…
One of the UK’s funniest females, Gina Yashere, returns to her home country from across the pond with her highly-anticipated brand new show, ‘Laugh Riot’. A former lift engineer, the multi-award winning comedian is now a true headline act the world over, from Japan to Dubai, Hong Kong to Singapore, Australia to Canada, South Africa to Europe and in America, where she reached the final 10 on NBC’s Last Comic Standing and currently resides.
‘Laugh Riot’ will explore it all, Gina-style; her recent move to New York and the ridiculous auditions which made her leave Los Angeles. Her new fear of cats after being terrorised by three super intelligent felines at her friend’s house. Being coughed on, stared at and followed in China, and finding herself in a brothel in Singapore. Gina, as always, has plenty of stories to tell in a way that only Gina can tell them!
We asked her for her ‘Famous Last Words’…
Last thing you did that made you feel good?
Hot yoga! I just came out of a class 20 minutes ago. I started doing hot yoga in order to increase my flexibility and help with my Lupus systems which include arthritis and helps so much. It’s like giving myself an hour and a half massage three times a week.
Last thing you’d want to be doing right now?
Anything outdoors – I’m a sun worshipper and its freezing right now!
“An eight-foot-high pile of lamb chops”
Last supper… What are you ordering?
I don’t eat meat, even though I love it. So my last supper would be an eight-foot-high pile of lamb chops.
Last person you’d want to share a drink with?
Jim Davidson. It’s obvious why, but he’s a racist, no matter how he tries to hide it. He got away with it for years on the BBC but now we see him for who he is.
Last time you shed a tear and why?
I cry at crappy movies or soppy scenes in movies all the time. I have been known to cry at Britain’s Got Talent.
Last refuge… where would you go?
One of the islands off the coast of Thailand.
Last the course… tips on loot, love & life?
Do what you want to do for love, not money. Do it because you want to do it. My motto in life is ‘fu*k it and do it anyway’.
Last but one… random question: Tell us about something that interests you that nobody else knows about. Like Gaelic football… or porcelain.
All things electronics. I love gadgets so much so I’ll even read an instruction manual from front to back like a novel.
Your Famous Last Words?
She had fun, she lived life on her own terms. Fuck it!!
