How to Arrange Your Bedroom for the Best
Until recently, sleep wasn’t given much thought. But back then, people were generally getting enough of it! These days a shocking majority of us are sleep deprived and don’t even know it. Getting enough sleep is essential for so many reasons. Most importantly, sleep is a healer. Lots of little processes go on in your body whilst you are asleep, and only when you sleep, which is what makes it so vital. Hormones for weight loss and boosting the immune system are produced in sleep, and things like mood, concentration and good decision making are improved after a good night’s sleep.
However, as already mentioned, many of us are sleep deprived, and lots of us have troubles with sleeping. So here are some tips and changes you can make in your room for a better night’s sleep.
Clear the Cave
Your room may be a private space in your home that no one else gets to see, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t take pride in it. A messy bedroom can induce stress, so keep it clean and tidy to promote good sleep, that includes making your bed every morning! You should aim to wash your sheets every two weeks and don’t forget to give your mattress a good whack at least twice a year! A cleanly environment is good for health and relaxation. Adding some plants can also help clear the air and set a good mood.
Create a Calm Space
Everything from the colours to the lighting to the smells in your room can influence your sleep, so choose them all carefully. Dark colours can add a cozy feel where as pale cool colours have a relaxing affect. Which colours you go with depend on your personality, but it’s still best avoid vibrant colours that can be too energising in a place where you want to relax. Scents can also have a big impact, whether candles or oils. Lavender and chamomile are particularly good scents to use in the evening to prepare for bed.
Commit to Comfort
Your room should definitely be cozy, but above anything it should be comfy! It can be hard to get comfortable if you with suffer with aches or pains, so having the right mattress is essential. Pocket sprung mattresses provide excellent support as each spring has its own free movement, but with lots of other options available, it’s best to do a little research before choosing one! Cushions are another inexpensive way to add comfort and style to your room and can be easily changed when you desire a new look.
Some other tips to help you fall into a good sleep routine include sticking to a regular schedule, ditching your devices in the hour running up to bedtime, and avoiding caffeine in the later half of the day. Additionally, setting some time aside for problem solving can make sure you keep your worried out of the bedroom so they don’t interfere with your sleep.
