Distilled – The Cleaner Option
On the other hand, distilled is the”purest” out of the two. The distillation process involves boiling the water to a higher degree then collecting the condensate. This results in all of the impurities being left behind while still having a safe drinking source.
The process takes longer though, thus increasing its costs. You might notice this once you start comparing the two types. This can be considered as the safest option, as it is recommended for babies and those with immunocompromised bodies.
Meanwhile, this does not mean that it does not have any kind of disadvantage. For one, it removes all of the minerals and electrolytes that your body needs. This means that you would not be getting enough hydration as well. You would end up drinking more since you would still feel thirsty.
Also, it can contribute to some health issues later on since it removes all of the necessary minerals for growth and development. Calcium and magnesium are just one of them, along with fluorine which is usually added to tap.
Whether you choose one or the other, it does not matter too much. As long as you have a balanced diet, then any of these health issues would not appear if you prefer distilled. On the other hand, you would need to investigate further regarding its source. Drinking straight from the tap can be an option in some states, but for others, you might need to install a filter.
