Dirty Martini, Leeds – Review
Dirty Martini, Leeds

It’s Christmas time, party season is in full swing, and one of the new bars on the block, Dirty Martini in Leeds is serving up a Christmas treat this year.
Situated on Albion Street, Dirty Martini is classy, glitzy and funky. It’s got a brilliant vibe across two floors with brilliant staff and it’s fast building a reputation the place to be in Leeds. Their Christmas cocktail offering is something that I’ve heard a lot about, so my friend and I have popped in early evening to give it a try.
Priced at £9 each, or £6 when pre-ordered, we decided to give the Dirty Grinch and Christmas Cheer cocktail a go.
“A little seasonal kick”
The Grinch is a concoction containing Havana 3yr Rum. It’s shaken with Briottet Crème de Cacao, Crème de Menthe, Butterscotch Schnapps, double cream, dark chocolate pencils and fresh mint
leaves. It’s garnished with an After Eight mint slice. Served up by Ruby with a smile, the refreshing and supply a little seasonal kick. The minty taste is obvious, and it’s got a thickness to it.
The Christmas Cheer drink is Bols Genever & Tanqueray Gin, shaken with Cherry Heering liqueur, homemade raspberry syrup, Luxardo Maraschino liqueur, pomegranate juice & orange bitters. Quite strong, and delivers a fruity taste.
The vibe in Dirty Martini is really nice. It’s a low-lit room, the music is upbeat and isn’t set in to the background. Neither is it too much to the ears. You can chat and chill out, or you can get in the mood for a night out too.
With our drinks we order a small food platter. It consists of beef and cheese sliders, grill flatbreads with mint yoghurt spinach and Italian cheese dips, and southern Fried Chicken. It may look like a small serving, but each dish is generous enough to make the entire selection a decent size, and surprisingly filling. Taste wise, it’s spot on – and a perfect accompaniment to the alcohol. In particular, the southern chicken and mini slider burgers were really good.
To finish, we plumped for a final drink and both went for the Quince and Walnut old-fashioned cocktail. Now this is strong. Jim Beam bourbon together with manzanilla sherry with Mandarin liqueur whiskey barrel aged bitters meant that on first sip you knew you were having alcohol.
The presentation the cocktails were fantastic, and that compliments the reputation that Dirty Martini have come to Leeds with. As a big fan of the Covent Garden venue, I had high expectations of this place. And here in Leeds, expectations are fulfilled, even if it’s a different style of venue.
Get yourself in over Christmas, because you will not regret it. It’s a great place to start your night, and a fantastic place to prolong your night too.
