Swift Direct Blinds has rebranded from Direct Blinds to coincide with the launch of its new website.

Originally established 50 years ago as Swift Blinds, the family-run company was established by Alan Swift, who started the business from the back room of a post office, where he was also the postmaster.

In the early years, the company sold and installed Venetian blinds. Today, Swift Direct Blinds offers more than 15 different types of blind with over 4,000 window dressing options.

Swift Blinds launched its original website in 2010, changing its name to Direct Blinds to be more internet friendly.

Nic Swift, Director and co-owner, said: “When we started our online website, we traded as Direct Blinds. We thought that this was an easier site name for people to find us online. However, with more competitors appearing on the horizon it became harder to stand out from other companies with such a generic name.

“So this year, we thought, if we need a new, more defined brand name, Swift needs to come back. Hence the revival of the Swift family name, which taps into our heritage and emphasises our speedy, quality focused service.”

“We use the highest quality fabric and materials sourced from leading UK suppliers and we double check the quality of all products before shipping them to you.”

To ensure its products are of the finest quality, in 1993 Swift Direct Blinds achieved British Standard 5750 Quality Assurance from the British Blinds and Shutter Association, one of the first blinds manufacturers to do so.

In the 2000s, the company expanded both its head office and factory capacity with over 70% of its made to measure products now supplied directly from its Huddersfield base.

David added: “The business has seen many changes since its inception, but the firm’s commitment to producing the finest quality blinds, handmade by expert craftsmen has never changed.”

Nic added: “Today, our factory uses the latest technology and machinery, but there’s no replacement for the human touch. Every blind is measured and cut by hand by our team of craftsmen and women with over two centuries of experience between them.

“Swift Direct Blinds was established with a reputation for quality that is as important to us in 2020 as it was 50 years ago.

“Looking ahead, we’ve got big plans and ideas for the future, but our main aim stays the same, which is to continue to supply high-quality window coverings that delight our customers. For 50 years, Swift Direct Blinds has stood for expertise and unbeatable customer service. Here’s to the next 50 years!”
