Tribal Hair: Models on the Spring/Summer catwalks looked like they had just stepped off the plane following a round-the-world journey, having picked up style inspiration from every continent. From springy African texture to thick Nordic rope plaits and narrow twisted cornrows, the runways showcased global influences of style combined with a modern, urban edge.
Seen at… There was intricate basket weaving hairstyles at Alexander McQueen, while the tribal inspiration was clear to see at Alexander Wang, where models walked like warriors down the catwalk with hair daubed in white paint. Is it for me? If you want to reinvent your hair time and time again, going tribal is the way to do it. This look is very versatile and can be tailored to suit any occasion. From a quick fishtail plait to perk up long hair, to accessorising your style with feathers, leather headbands, there’s no end to the creative looks offered by the tribal trend.
Who’s wearing it? Celebrities have embraced the tribal trend, with Brit girls Cheryl Cole and Mollie King opting for a fashionable take on the trend, looking to Apache tribes with their headbands. When it comes to plaits, they’re everywhere! Ava Samboro stepped out wearing tight braids, while Pixie Lott’s pretty braided style has become something of a trademark.
Other Hot Celeb Looks

The ‘no colour -colour’ gives the glossiest richest tonal colour inspired by the ‘no makeup-makeup look’. Think Angelina Jolie, with the richest red carpet gloss in a natural or slightly darker tone.
This chic tie dye technique means a strong grown-out colour with really lightened ends and ashy roots. Edgy, modern, cool, young and fresh – as seen on Rachel Bilson.
A perfect technique for brunettes that wish to honey up. A mixture of slices and balayage that the stylist ‘paints’ on to give a really beachy, yet softly light effect. The re-growth is manageable and the effect is sexy, beautiful and softly textured, perfectly demonstrated by Eva Mendes.
The ultimate blonde – think Gwyneth Paltrow – clean, bright all-over colour with highlights running through it resulting in ‘A’ list hair. A traffic-stopping colour for the blonde that is sexy , fun and fabulous.
Inspired by luminescent make-up, this technique applies a woven lightening colour in a soft tone and radiant lightener in fine sections back to back. It gives a natural yet luminous look to the hair – classically Jennifer Aniston.
