Best Holiday Clothing and Accessories 2019
by Charlotte Martin
It’s the start of the holiday season and this is our style-guide for the SS19 season! Whether you’re relaxing on the beach, exploring a new city or enjoying the warm evenings in the UK, here’s how to look good this Summer.
“Perfect for days in the sun”
If this Summer is anything like last year then we can expect HEAT which means we need some hot fashion statements! This Summer, the high street has been taken over by cute milkmaid vibes and poppy prints. From left to right we have this adorable pale blue blouse from Pretty Little Thing (£25), perfect for days in the sun, next we have an itsy tie-front bralet from Topshop (£12), both tops can be accompanied perfectly with some lightweight linen shorts (£32) such as these (also from Topshop).
What’s great about these items is that they can be dressed up or down and the lightness of the material really allows that flexibility, perfect for when you’re walking around in the heat! Perhaps my favourite item of Summer clothing has to be this gorgeous bell-sleeved blouse from Joe Browns in lemon print (£30). It’s so summery it’ll make you want to jet off to Sorrento and show off your new top tucked into some denim shorts with a glass of Prosecco in hand!
“Stylish whilst also being comfortable”
If you’re like me and absolutely loving the lemon look then you’ll love this cute fruity dress (£50), also from Joe Browns, perfect for those Summer evenings. Whether you’re out for dinner or at a festival, this dress is the perfect attire for SS19. Also suitable for the warm evenings is this adorable embroidered jumpsuit from Topshop (£20), extremely flattering and feminine and just the right amount of material that you can comfortably wear it in the sunny afternoons. There’s nothing worse than being hot and bothered, so these sorts of light garments are perfect for looking stylish whilst also being comfortable. My final evening-wear suggestion this Summer are these stylish paisley printed chinos from Zara (£29.99), the home of Spanish fashion. These light trousers are perfect for evenings out for dinner on holiday or a romantic stroll along the beach.
No holiday article would be complete without swimwear! One of the great and unique things about swimwear is that it doesn’t tend to go out of fashion. Where many clothing trends come and go, you can always dig out that nautical swimsuit from the wardrobe and still look stylish. HOWEVER, if that nautical swimsuit looks like it’s seen better days then here are some options for you. To reiterate my point, we have this gorgeous nautical bikini from River Island (£32). A timeless piece but with stylish gold buckle detailing for that modern look. Next we have this starry bikini from Protest (£29.99) as part of their SS19 collection. A very flattering design that’s perfect for days on the beach on holiday. Lastly, we have a belted swimsuit from New Look (£25.99). If you thought swimsuits weren’t as fashionable as bikinis, then think again. This is definitely more of a Love Island vibe and outlines the figure beautifully for a real sexy yet classy look.
“Chic yet versatile”
Accessories are just as important as the clothes you wear, they’re perfect for allowing the same outfit to be a day time or night time outfit. Jewellery is essential in your holiday wardrobe. This flawless gold and black bracelet from Michael Kors (£249) is ideal for bringing on holiday as not only will it go with every single outfit you put on, but it’s also a statement piece for those classier occasions whilst you’re away. Likewise, this stylish double chained necklace from Fossil (£59) is awesome for taking on holiday. It’s a subtly, elegant design that is perfect for day time wear, evening wear and even when you’re back at home with the holiday blues. Also in our Summer wardrobe we need a watch (to check whether it’s time for another mojito by the pool). Gold watches are always a good idea as they’re chic yet versatile. This beauty from Tommy Hilfiger (£99) is exactly what I’m talking about, the marble clock face is particularly stunning and really gives that holiday feel whilst the gold strap is extremely elegant and will suit every outfit.
“Touch of British style”
In addition to jewellery, we need some headwear. This fun and colourful headband (£15) from Joe Browns is perfect for messy hair days on the beach and just adds that extra bit of style when you’re not feeling overly-dressy. Alternatively, on those cooler evenings you could try some more statement headwear such as this beautiful pink fedora (£35), also from Joe Browns, adding a touch of British style to your holiday. Finally, sunglasses: somewhere like Layoners sunglasses is an affordable alternative to expensive designer sunnies, or there’s these exquisite tortoise shell cat-eye sunglasses from Gucci (£390). Whilst designer glasses can be expensive, they are an investment. They are the ULTIMATE Summer style and will add a hint of glamour to all of your Summery outfits on holiday this year!
