The Beauty Studio, John Lewis, Leeds – Review
The Beauty Studio, John Lewis, Leeds
by Katie Leon
Arriving at The Beauty Studio in John Lewis, Leeds, I was immediately struck by how glamorous the store is. The beauty hall itself is a magnificent hub for beauty lovers, filled with premium brands including Chanel, Charlotte Tilbury and Jo Malone. Everything is beautiful and shiny! The stands are well stocked and spaced out, making it easy to get around and see everything.
I was greeted at The Beauty Studio and introduced to my ‘Beauty Guide’ who explained to me how ‘The Beauty Confidential’ works. The studio offers a range of options as described below:
The “Beauty Fix”: The complimentary 20-minute consultation offering help finding the best products from across the Beauty Hall. The short consultation gives customers tailored advice and inspiration to find a total solution for a specific issue or need, such as the most suitable foundation for sensitive skin.
The “Masterclass”: The hour-long group tutorial shows you “how to”. From the perfect smokey eye to the statement lip, our Beauty Guides will give you the opportunity to learn new techniques and give their expert advice. The tutorials will run everyday throughout the week, with tickets costing £15 which is redeemable against products purchased.
The “Beauty Confidential”: The hour-long consultation offers one-to-one advice, whether you’re looking for a solution to a specific issue or a total beauty makeover. The service also offers advice on a life moment such as a wedding or provides more in-depth advice such as a beauty bag refresh. The “Beauty Confidential” is £35, redeemable against products purchased.
“Try things that I might not normally try”
I felt like a kid in a sweet shop! My beauty guide led me around the many brands, encouraging me to have a good look around and try things that I might not normally try. As we walked around she gave me advice on the different products and what would suit my colouring. She ensured that I had everything I needed from creams and primer to highlighter and powder.
We headed back to the studio armed full of goodies. I was offered a drink and took my place in front of the mirror to watch my guide work her magic. As my guide worked around my face, I watched as she turned me from post-work drab to night-out ready glamour!
What I really loved about this experience was the flexibility of it. I have visited make-up counters that offer a similar service where you pay for a makeover and redeem the price on their products. I love that with this, you can mix and match products of different brands. MY beauty guide encouraged me to pick lots of options so that as we built ‘the look’, I could change my mind if I suddenly thought one colour lipstick was better than another etc.
I had an absolutely wonderful time and would encourage anyone who loves beauty to head down to John Lewis in Leeds and get booked in. Whether you have an upcoming event or just fancy a change, even if you have a specific area you want to learn more about, there is something for everyone.
