Fiery melodic punks from Steel City…

YOUR NAME: Sam Bantock.
BAND NAME: Steal The City.
WHAT DO YOU DO/PLAY? Lead vocals/Bass guitar.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN TOGETHER AS A BAND/PLAYING MUSIC? This is my first band, we’ve been gigging for about three years now, playing music for about four. Hopefully there will be many more!

GIVE US THREE REASONS WHY WE SHOULD TRACK DOWN, LISTEN AND DISCOVER YOUR MUSIC?
Meaty guitar riffs. Lots of sing along worthy chorus lines. We’re from South Yorkshire.

WHERE DO YOU SOUND BEST – FESTIVAL, CLUB, BEDROOM – OR SOMEWHERE ELSE?
Small intimate gigs, where everyone can feel our sweat pouring down on them from the stage. In all seriousness, we love to get people involved, especially if they’ve never heard of us before.

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST…
RECORD? I’ve never actually owned a record player, although I plan on owning one soon!
CD? American Idiot by Green Day was the first album I bought with my own money, quite a long time ago.
DOWNLOAD? ‘Rollin’’ by Limp Bizkit. I thought I was so cool downloading a song that had lots of swearing in it.

SO, WHEN IT ALL GOES RIGHT AND YOU’VE GOT A MANSION AND A SUPERMODEL GIRL/BOYFRIEND, WHAT WILL BE YOUR BIGGEST MUSICAL INDULGENCE?
I think I’d have a big ass stage in my back garden, with a pool that I could dive into after a show, with lots of unnecessary lighting. I wouldn’t mind having a home studio, maybe a grand piano, wouldn’t mind trying to write orchestral stuff one day, who knows? In all honesty I’d just be happy playing our music to as many new people around the world as possible.

SO, WHEN IT ALL GOES WRONG AND YOU’VE ACRIMONIOUSLY BROKEN UP CITING HUGE MUSICAL DIFFERENCES, WHAT DO YOU FALL BACK ON?
I’d never stop writing music, I’d never stop living my life to the fullest. I have a pretty decent job right now but being able to live on the road with my band mates is my ultimate dream.

CITE SOME INTER-BAND MUSICAL DIFFERENCES…
Joe goes way heavier than most of us, Smit likes his cheesy early noughties pop punk, whilst Ellis enjoys a lot of melodic hardcore. I enjoyed a lot of Muse and Radiohead growing up – it definitely helped in shaping my tastes.

WHO ARE YORKSHIRE’S FINEST IN CULTURE, SPORT AND MUSIC?
Well, we have the legend known as Sean Bean (the guy who dies in everything). Sports-wise I don’t really follow much of the athletics stuff, so I’m gonna say World Superbike Champion, James Toseland. Music-wise, our personal favourites are Sheffield band While She Sleeps, great bunch of lads with three cracking studio albums.

NAME YOUR SUPERGROUP – WHO’S PLAYING WHAT AND WHO’S ON VOCALS?
Vocals – Jeremy McKinnon from A Day to Remember.
Bass – Chris Wolstenholme from Muse.
Guitar – Synyster Gates from Avenged Sevenfold.
Drums – Chris Adler from Lamb of God.
Their band would be called ‘Avenge The Day The Lamb Found It’s Muse’. Their debut album would be called ‘Walk with me in Lauderdale.’

GO SEE THIS FILM: Ready Player One.
GO READ THIS BOOK: The Heroin Diaries.
GREAT LOST BAND/ARTIST: Chris Cornell.
WOULDN’T BE CAUGHT DEAD SUPPORTING: The Cranberries.
LONDON, L.A OR LEEDS?: London.

AND FINALLY… AS YOU LEAVE THE STAGE, WHAT ARE YOUR PARTING WORDS.
Stay Classy.
